Hi, looking for thoughts on Kaylee? I prefer Kayleigh - what even is the original???

Good question! Have no idea what the original is, but would guess Kayleigh. I like it! It has quite a sweet sound and I like that it sounds the same as Ceilidh (sp?) which is a party / dance in Scotland.

Is it too late to say I'm sorry?

I think Kaylee is a happy sounding name. I think maybe it's a bit 80s, I get the same vibe as Shannon and Lisa. I know a Kaley, for another spelling, but think I prefer the -Leigh spelling

It's lovelee

I think Kayleigh is probably the original spelling, but the (lovely) character by that name in 'Firefly' was a Kaylee. (I like it btw!)

Oh yeah I forgot about that character in Firefly!

Kayleigh is nice, and is much more traditional. Kaylee makes me shudder, sorry.

Really dislike it, sorry. It sounds really dated and a bit Sharon/ Tracy -ish. (Sharon is actually one of my fave retro names but has a poor image.)

Yvaine I came on to say I'm so sorry, I never meant to break your heart... But you broke mine Grin

Would the original not be Ceilidh like ceilidh dancing?

Double E at the end of names is naff

I'm Kayleigh and every other one I've met has had the same spelling. People seem to just assume this is how it's spelt so it must be more usual and you may end up correcting a lot if you use an alternative spelling

Neither is great.

Kayleigh is the one I like... I have looked on name websites and they say that Kaylee is the original? Confused

I'd say Kayleigh is more normal in the UK - if I saw a Kaylee, I'd assume she was named for the Firefly character. (Not that that would be a bad thing - she'd be a great character to be named for!)

I know a Kayleigh much better than Kaylee IMO

Don't know why, but I really, really don't like either.

I think Kaylee is the American version along with Kaley isn't it?

Notsure1234 · 09/06/2016 23:19

I'm thinking of Kaley Cuoco from TBBT

I worked with a Kayleigh recently, I really struggled to say her name without it sounding like I was singing the song.

But then it is one of my favourite songs.

I think Kayleigh is more usual in the UK and Kaylee in the US

OP it was probably an American website
