Never heard of it. Sounds a bit masculine.

Definitely unusual but I love it. Think Sienna Miller used it for her kid?

Love it!

It reminds of that fantastic burn Jean Harlow got from Margot Asquith. "The t is silent, as in Harlow".
Bit of an odd association but it did make me Grin

Anyway to actually answer the question no, I don't like it.

I don't like it and can't think of anything nice to say about it.

Place name, surname, not a first name.

Marley yes, Marlowe has an odd ending for a girls' name.

Makes me think of marshmallow.

I like it a lot. It depends a bit on your surname.

What about Malory?

Report
purplefox · 08/06/2016 00:40

I love it but it's too "trendy" now for me.

I do love 'M' names though... Mara, Maude, Meadow, Margot

I really like it. Very cool and much more sophisticated than Marlie/Marley imo. It's true Sienna Miller's daughter is called Marlowe. It was on our long list but we went with Margot - different style - good job as we totally randomly ended up living in Marlowe for a bit :). So long as you know she will never be 'Marlowe from Marlowe' then use it!

Marla or Marlie much nicer. Surnames as first names are not very appealing to me, especially on girls. Very unfeminine.

KoalaDownUnder · 08/06/2016 04:13

Doesn't appeal to me. Sounds/looks quite masculine.

Prefer Harlow.

Came on the thread to say just go with Christopher if you want a nod to the author. Then you said the name is for a girl Hmm

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 08/06/2016 10:16

I think playwright too. I wouldn't use it because I just couldn't shake the association.
