I like them all apart from Claudia (meaning puts me off). My favourites are Cordelia and Ophelia!

Aurelia is really pretty (I'm pronouncing it ow- ray - lee - a). Love Cordelia too. Claudia least favourite.

Claudia. Just okay.
Aurelia. Bloody awful
Cordelia. Dreadful. Although It does have excellent nn options. Eg. Delia, Cora, Dee, Dee-Dee. Cordy.
Nina. Gorgeous and elegant.

Claudia first, but I'm biased because I have one. Then Nina and the rest I don't really care for.

Don't like Ophelia either, Sorry for not being more positive.

Are you posh? If you're not, use Nina.

Aurelia. Love it. Reminds me of Love Actually.

Nina or Claudia. Don't really like the others.

Cordelia.

I have one

Do you have to be 'posh' to pick a particular name for your child? I'm not really sure what 'posh' means anyway Confused

Ha ha, love mrsleighhalfpenny's comment! At risk of seeming posh, I was going to rank them in the following order:

Claudia
Ophelia
Aurelia
Cordelia
Nina

I like Aurelia and Claudia. Others as middle names.

I love the name Claudia for how it sounds but it means 'crippled' which is rubbish. Such a stupid meaning for a beautiful name.

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 02/06/2016 23:27

What do you mean "what does posh mean?" ?

You don't HAVE to be posh to use any name, but some names mean a kid is more likely to have the piss taken than others if they aren't post. Most of these fall into that category. Claudia is probably ok at a push, but Aurelian, Cordelia and Ophelia strike me as being rather pretentious.

Claudia.

It's a lovely name, not too popular and my future dil, one day I hope. Grin
Nina, just because it's pretty sounding but not twee.

I really couldn't saddle a child with the other names, apologies to those who can. Grin

Well in the absence of a meaningful class system (some will disagree with that) 'posh' is pretty subjective. So no, I do not know what is meant by posh. It's a far less meaningful word than it has been in the past.
By my observation people seem to be much more open minded about naming children these days, and whilst it may have been the case a few decades ago that a name was 'posh' or not, I personally think there's far less of that today, thank goodness.

Well I already have Lysander, Atticus and Tatiana so I suspect I will be judged as pretentious come what may.

Nina is my favourite but I fear it doesn't sit well with the longer sibling names.

All beautiful and interesting names. I especially like Atticus. Thinking about the sibling names, I think Claudia or Ophelia suit very well. Ophelia is growing on me more, and reminds me of that very beautiful John Millais painting. Smile

I don't think Nina fits particularly well with your other DCs names. Your other choices do. If you love the name go with it though!

Aurelia is beautiful but I discounted it because I couldn't think of a good shortening (this may not bother you). Nina agree too short to go with your other names. Ophelia I would worry about teasing (I'll feel ya... Whatever). Cordelia I don't think is very pretty and makes me think of umbilical cords or cordial, by that may just be my weirdness! I have a Claudia in my belly right now so obviously adore that one.

Tatiana is gorge btw.

  1. Aurelia
  2. Nina
  3. Ophelia
  4. Claudia (but pronounced Cloud-ia)
  5. Cordelia

I would also add Cecilia and Lydia to the list.
But I adore Aurelia and its meaning.
