Baby names

12 days to go and can't agree on her name

So I am having a planned section in 12 days with our second daughter.
We have a 4 year old Eloise (love her name)
Problem this time is I was shocked we were having another girl although very happy but I've never felt any other name I can think of its as unique as Eloise.
So a few months ago was just throwing ideas around and I suggested Zara as I think it's pretty. Instantly OH fell in love with it and DD has constantly referred to my growing bump as Zara.
Safely though I just dint feel this is her name? I feel I'm being pushed into this.
I've tried suggested others I like
Violet
Isla
Harriet
Evie
But DD gets quite upset when I try to suggest that might not be her name and says no I like Zara
OH isn't interested in other names
So is Zara so bad? How does it feel to others?
OH says he looked it up and it is a derivative of Sarah (my name) and means princess
Help!!!

What's wrong with Zara? It's a lovely name - Elouise & Zara is a god sibset

Or maybe just wait till your baby arrives & then decide what name suits her?

Zara is lovely and really complements Eloise as they're both normal names without being over popular. But, you don't have to decide on a name now, just be very clear to DH and DD that you will not be deciding her name until DD2 is here.

Laura?

Bloody autocorrect. I meant LAYLA

I think you are outnumbered by your OH and DD, 2 against one! Zara is a pretty name and goes perfectly with Eloise, it is not a name you would hear often either.

I like Zara but if you are Sarah that might be too similar.

Zoe? Lara? Laura? Naomi?

Zara is a lovely name.

Eloise and Amelie go well together.

I really like Eloise, beautiful name. I like Zara and think it goes nicely with Eloise. I probably prefer Violet tbh, but Zara is good too.

I like Zara and prefer it to your other options.

I know you didn't ask for suggestions but I'll give some anyway in case she definitely isn't a Zara.

Eloise and Ursula
Eloise and Zoe
Eloise and Hester
Eloise and Phoebe
Eloise and Juliet
Eloise and Cassandra
Eloise and Annabel
Eloise and Amaris
Eloise and Carla

I love Zara. I would spell it Zahra but I have a North African family connection

I know how you feel. I suggested so many names to my DH with our son I was afraid I'd get desperate and he'd pick one i didn't even like!!
Zara is a great name but if you're hesitant I'd definitely go with the sounds the same arguement! My cousin made this mistake and it annoys them!
My suggestions are
Maisy
Clara
Hazel
Matilda
Daisy
lilia

Alicia or Juliette

Zara is lovely, and works well for a little girl and also a grown up.

As your DD likes the name a lot, that will go a long way towards her accepting her new baby sister, and hopefully help make things easier for you. For that reason alone I would use Zara. (And just be glad that she hasn't chosen Bod or Flipper!)

TBH I'm not too keen on the names on your list, Evie especially was massively popular a year or two ago and will date any child, Isla seems a bit of a harsh sound to me, Harriet is a bit harsh too and without any pretty nn, and while Violet is Granny chic ATM the nn Vi isn't very pretty.

So please use Zara, pretty, cool and classy!! Thanks

Thanks ladies all the replies are really helpful.
Yes part of me has constantly been swayed by DD being so insistent on the name. I want to help her accept the new baby anyway I can but at the same time I am mummy and it is ultimately what I say.
I think we are having a nice family weekend and once baby Zara gets mentioned I'm go into say that we can't say for sure until she is here.

In honesty I don't like my other name suggestions that much, I'm more grasping at straws there.

I don't mind the similarity between Sarah and Zara and I think it's quite sweet OH suggested this as that's just not normally like him.
But I do worry she will spend much of her life saying its Zara with a Z not Sara.

I do like spelling Zahra but too exotic for us I think.
I'll keep you all posted....

I think Zara is well enough known with the Royal and the clothes shop that she won't be saying "with a z"

This happened with me i liked a few names but dp suggested one and ds fell in love with it, it has become his name ds really wants it and I kind if felt giving his brother his choice might be a good way of making him feel involved.

I doubt I would be able to change anyone's mind now so ive accepted it.

I know she's going to end up being Zara I mean how can I take that away from my 4 year old.
I do like the name I just never had to name not one but two little girls before. This naming business is hard work! And so much pressure!

Why can't Zara be the middle name? My DD1 came up with a whole list of baby names, at 4 yrs old, of which Florence was the only one we all liked. That became her middle name and it turned to be a historic family name as well.

If you want a more unique name, then Zara is far less popular than all your suggestions. (although Violet is really pretty)

Love Zara, but it had already been used in our circle so settled for something else. Also like Layla (but know a lot).
