Baby names

Effie or Frankie for baby girl?? Help me decide

I absolutely love both Effie and Frankie for our daughter, she would be given a full name of either Josephine with Effie for short or Francesca with Frankie for short.

Middle names probably Florence Anne

So

'Effie' Josephine Florence Anne
'Frankie' Francesca Florence Anne

Go on, hit me with your thoughts?

Whoop! This is looking positive, see in my head she is already Effie, every time I think of her that is what I call her, DH loves it too, but I'm just wavering as not keen on the Film/ tv links. (Effy from skins and Effie Trinkett from hunger games or something similar? Not sure haven't watched it).

She sounds cheeky and mischievous just like her older sister :)

Effie sounds a bit like a swear word to me, I don't swear but you hear people say 'F - off'...

Wasn't Ruskin's wife an Effie? Apparently he turned and ran when he saw that real life women didn't look exactly like statues from antiquity and had pubic hair.

Poor John Ruskin.

Agree with other posters that Effie is a bit like a swear word. Frankie is cute in my opinion but the danger in working backwards from a nickname to a full first name is that you miss the other nicknames for that name which you may not like as much (and which your child may get called by other people) such as Francesca and Fran or Frannie rather than Frankie.

I too think of Effie as similar to Effing (swearing), sorry.

I like Francesca very much!

I agree with pps about Effie. Seffie which is similar would work as a nn for Josephine.
Francesca is very pretty.

I agree with the effie swearing thing.

I like Josephine but with Josie or Jo as nickname. With Effie I thought of swearing too I'm afraid! Frankie is fine though. I like Frances as well, which could also have the nickname Frankie.

Love Effie. It was our my first choice girls name for dc1, but he was a boy. I think it's beautiful.

Effie is a bit of a wispy, nothingy name to me. Sorry!

Francesca is lovely.
