Unique and hardly heard is a contradiction in terms. Unique would have to be never heard of.

From my dd's class, there are children with names I have never heard of including:

Nilufahr
Tauryn
Cordiana (I love this)

I presume some of it is cultural - so these names might be normal to people who grew up in the place these parents are from. I am Irish and there are names (including my daughter's) which would be unique to non-Irish people but most Irish people, particularly those from a particular area, would know one or two with the name (e.g. Nessan, Ademar, Garvan etc)

Was just posting on the fairy names thread that I was absolutely set on calling DD2 Pebbles when preg.

Husband point blank refused, but subsequently admitted it would have been perfect for her now she has a personality. Not a name I've really heard (except from the obvious)

A boy in my Reception class years ago was called Name - is that really common or not? Grin

Pebbles is cute but my partner wouldn't let me either! I like Luna for a girl and I no it's not that unusual but rocky I quite like for a boy. Name well that kinda speaks for itself Blush

Watermelondrea - that yoouneek enough?

An old anglo saxon name like Ethelthryth is genuinely rare but somehow I don't think that's quite what you want.

Canyou

I know an adult Nilufahr, bit older than me probably mid 30's, goes by Nellie. Hates her given name with a passion.

Rare names: go back a generation or two. Peter and Jane. Philip and Sheila. Guaranteed only ones in the class. IKWYM about Jack, Harry, Chloe etc.

Strictly to be unique you have to invent one or maybe a fictional name like Katniss (probably in the top 50 already)
