Hey MN,

DH, and I, came across the name "Melody" - she can then have the NN of "Mel", but still have a beautiful/slightly quirky name!

Opinions?

I absolutely love it, I don't think I've ever met a melody. It's beautiful!

It's my middle name smile I hated it when I was younger, but I absolutely love it now. I think I've grown into it, I'm quite musical too so it fits smile

I really wish I'd used it as a middle name for my DD.

Lovely, and under used!

It's very pretty, and another with a musical link which a friend used and which I think is lovely is Cadence nn Cadie.

It's sweet but now I have the CBeebies Melody theme tune running through my head.

I love it. (its not my name despite nickname)
If I met a Melody i'd think "what a lovely name."

I've known 3, they don't seem to have any problems with it, although it has never seemed a very strong name to me.

Sgoinneal Tue 29-Mar-16 00:45:03

For me it's too twee, but then I like quite strong, probably quite old-fashioned names. It's very feminine and a refreshing change from the current batch of very popular choices. She could also be nn Dee.

Seems a bit wet to me. And a bit 70s.

SugarDiabetes Tue 29-Mar-16 00:54:33

I know an Esme Melodie. I think it's beautiful

VimFuego101 Tue 29-Mar-16 00:55:20

It's nice, but if you ever have another girl, you would obviously have to call her Harmony grin

houseeveryweekend Tue 29-Mar-16 00:55:56

I think its a beautiful name! slightly unusual but still a proper name that's been in use for ever, you wont get any questions of how to spell it or what does it mean. x

KimmySchmidtsSmile Tue 29-Mar-16 00:59:20

For any non-Whovians Melody Pond kicked ass wink

Alisvolatpropiis Tue 29-Mar-16 00:59:37

It's really lovely but I hate "Mel" as a nickname.

BettyBi0 Tue 29-Mar-16 06:29:43

I think it sounds a bit wet.

Plus now I have that bloomin Melody, Melody song from kids TV stuck in my head aargh

Duckdeamon Tue 29-Mar-16 07:09:56

Prissy. Also one of thos names (eg Grace) that implies a certain personality.

Especially dislike the spelling Melodie!

AutumnRose1988 Tue 29-Mar-16 07:13:51

Lovely lovely lovely but don't shorten that amazing name to Mel! I would have to say it in full all the time :-) just kidding. Fab name. Harmony not bad either X

Duckdeamon Tue 29-Mar-16 07:18:45

Would also be bad name if she was tone deaf!

albertcampionscat Tue 29-Mar-16 07:19:49

The only Melody I knew was a horse. It is rather pretty, but what if the poor child was tone deaf?

Melissa?

wombthereitis Tue 29-Mar-16 07:39:30

I love it, but then DD was very nearly a Melody.

Are you a fan of Captain Scarlet?
Melody, Harmony, Destiny, Symphony & Rhapsody are the extremely cool Angels.

Also Melody Gardot , the jazz singer.

I like it but agree with some of the comments here. Don't like Mel. How about French name Elodie? Beautiful and avoids the musical connotations in case she isn't.

RockUnit Tue 29-Mar-16 17:36:55

It's a lovely name. I like the suggestion of Melissa too.
