I'm due a daughter soon. I'm looking for something a bit unusual, but still pretty sounding.

I came across the name Meadow - what do you think?

I don't think it's a name for a child is it? Never heard a child called this before for good reason!

Oh... Sad

It certainly wouldn't cause any raised eyebrows where I live, and I think it sounds pretty but strong as well.

Sounds like a surname or end of a street name. A bit alternative for me for a baby name, but if that's what you're looking for maybe it's fine.

I like it, I know a little girl called Meadow Bee which I think is taking it a bit far but Meadow is sweet.

Are you a New Jersey based mafia boss?

If you like it use it. I think it's a perfectly acceptable name.

It does strike me more as a random noun than a name.

What about it do you like so much? The sound of it? The meaning? The colour?

I like that it's unusual, but a very pretty sounding name...

My DD has one in her year. It's nice, although I do assume her mum is a bit of a hippy because of it

It isn't a name.

Was just about to say - it's Tony Soprano's Daughter's name.
I do like it though.

It's lovely, what would you shorten it to?

If you want something more traditionally a name, what about Meredith?

Lovely name for a hamster.

I think it's lovely. I don't know her, but I know of a Meadow. She'd be about 16/17, now.

As a word, I think it sounds quite nice. But bear in mind what she will think of it when she is grown up and wanting to be taken seriously in her field (sorry)- how will she feel about having such an unusual name then? What will the name Meadow look like on a door plaque/side of a van/news article header/business card?

When I lived in Canada a family I worked for had a little girl called Meadow. I was a bit Hmmat the time, but no one batted an eye lid there. I later found out it is the name of one of the cast of the Sopranos, so perhaps that is why? It's actually quite pretty, but be prepared for lots of Hmm looks!

I'm not sure on the shortening... I feel like it'll be Meads... That reminds me of medication, though.

I'm far from hippyish, but I think it's so pretty.

I like it for the middle too...

I've met two Meadows. I predict an increase in its popularity for a few years (as happened to Summer, Forest, Sky. River etc).
