No.

Elizabeth Wakefield's best friend in the Sweet Valley High books...

Sorry I don't like it. It's a tad old fashioned. But as i always say if you like it go ahead

daffodilsandbooks Thu 03-Mar-16 20:43:06

Oh please don't, it's awful sad

MashesToPashes Thu 03-Mar-16 20:43:13

Love it. Do you know it's a character name on the Walking Dead? You might get the odd person assuming you're a fan.

It's a good strong name with a lovely meaning "life" or "soul".

daffodilsandbooks Thu 03-Mar-16 20:43:32

Even she changed it when she went to university Calla I don't blame her

madmother1 Thu 03-Mar-16 20:43:50

I love it!

Blyton here too. Ingrid as an alternative? Not keen on either to be honest, they are both quite 'hard' sounding to me.

OMG that is an awesome name I love it!!!! Please name your daughter that!!! I also love Edith and Beryl. I had a boy though so did not get to use any of them :-(

It is actually quite a nice sounding name though very much in the league of old lady chic not as yet popular (like Ethel and Maude). I probably would not be brave enough to use it, but it will probably be ultra cool in about ten years and yoiu will be a trend setter.

OnceMoreIntoTheBleach Thu 03-Mar-16 20:45:02

Or Astrid? Much nicer, IMO but each to their own smile

mydogeatsnutstoo Thu 03-Mar-16 20:45:08

I like Ines, and it sounds similar.

JoanFerguson Thu 03-Mar-16 20:45:10

I love it, makes me think of ghostworld and is just generally a super cool name.

lynholmerpark Thu 03-Mar-16 20:45:46

Beautiful name. Deserves a resurgence as do many old names. As a midwife never come across it.

wineandcheeseplease Thu 03-Mar-16 20:45:59

I love it!

PurpleDaisies Thu 03-Mar-16 20:46:05

One of my guinea pigs is called Enid. I'm not sure I like it for a human.

AmysTiara Thu 03-Mar-16 20:46:37

Eek I'm sorry but it'sone of the ugliest sounding names ever. I would be changing my name as soon as possible if i was called Enid

emilybrontescorset Thu 03-Mar-16 20:49:23

I like it and like Edith too.
Definately due a revival.

cally0 Thu 03-Mar-16 20:49:33

Ha thank you for your replies and your honesty!! Mixed reaction so far, and I think more dislikes than likes!

Jesabel Thu 03-Mar-16 20:50:01

So ugly. But then I do like Maude.

thebiscuitindustry Thu 03-Mar-16 20:51:30

Not keen on girls names ending in "id", they sound a bit harsh (I don't like Astrid or Ingrid either).

I like some of the other names from the same era though, such as Elsie and Edie.

DontKillMyVibe Thu 03-Mar-16 21:05:21

Whilst it automatically makes me think of Blyton there is something about it that I really like. It's a well known name that isn't overused but is nice. Also like Ines, Edith and Edie as others have suggested.
