Very slight difference - IsAbel vs IsObel.

I don't hear any difference at all as the middle syllable is usually just a neutral "uh". I like Isabel best too. Isobel looks slightly like it should be pronounced like isobar!

They sound the same.
Isobel is my favourite

They're the same name
Isobel is the best spelling (I may be biased as DD is Isobel Grin)

Isobel was my favourite girls name but never got to use it.

I thought Isobel was the Scottish spelling.
I think they are slightly different in pronunciation. Of the two spellings you asked about, I prefer Isabel.

Apparently they are all pronounced the same, Angry but Isabel is the only correct spelling. Grin
But most people in the UK tend to write Isabelle or Isobel.

I like Isabel, and personally wouldn't shorten it but if I was going to or knew for sure she would get Belle then I'd go for Isabelle

Elllicam · 19/02/2016 20:25

I would say Is-ah-bel and Is-oh-bel.

I'd say them ever so slightly differently but for all intents and purposes they sound the same.

Very slightly different, IMO: IsAbelle/IsObel

I prefer the Isabelle spelling Smile

Meant to add they are pronounced the same.

I'd pronounce them slightly differently - Isabel(le) with a definite /a/ sound, and Isobel with more of a schwa (is-uh-bel).

waxweasel · 21/02/2016 11:29

I'd pronounce them all the same. I like them all but prefer Isobel, followed by Isabelle. Isabel looks a bit incomplete to me, maybe because the french version seems to be more common so I'm more used to seeing a -elle ending.
