Fiona is a family name, but not too keen on it in original form. Can anyone think of Fiona derivatives?

Ffion (Welsh) not sure if this has the same derivation as Fiona or not.

Feena?

Although Fiona is a fab name!

Fina (fee-na) would be the closest and I think slightly prettier.

Register as Fiona but call her Fifi day to day?

DontkillMyVibe - Iona isn't Fiona without the "F".

It's pronounced Eye-ona.

I like Fiona OP - pretty and classic. Very underused nowadays!

Love Fiona but DP dislikes. I knew a Fiona who went by Fay but that's maybe a bit tenuous!

Hell to the no!

Fi is fine, Fifi is poodle territory. My siblings used continue to call me this to wind me up.

OP if you don't really like the name but want to honour a family member why not just use it as a middle name and pick a first name you love?

I know how it's pronounced Salmo - I was talking about when it's written down.

Aliona?

Iona
Fia

I know it's a pretty name (Fiona) but it's too associated to my age group I think.
