Too much of a mouthful? Too boring?

It's the only thing on which DH and I can agree if this one turns out to be a DD3 (we've used up all the other names we love!)

Both lovely names but Elizabeth Rose sounds better

We very nearly had an Elizabeth Rose. Lovely names but prefer them that way around if I'm honest

I have a Rosie Elizabeth and love it.

Great choice.

This is the most beautiful name.
I believe it belonged to the mother of President Kennedy. I might need to check that.

Thanks! Wouldn't go the other way around as one of our DDs has a name too similar to Elizabeth, and both our daughters have 'E' middle names so we thought we'd continue the pattern

Lovely!

I'm very biased as we have a Rosie Elisabeth.

It's a beautiful classic, not "boring" at all (whatever that even means in the context of names).

I also wouldn't get too hung up on flow - put the name you like best first as you'll be using that on its own at least 99% of the time. The number of times I've said (as opposed to written) my kids' full names is very small.

Go for it!

DH prefers Rose Evelyn, which I also think is pretty. But I think Rose Elizabeth is a bit stronger ...

Rose is our current top choice if DC is a girl, most likely Rose Elsie. So obviously I think it's a beautiful name and Elizabeth is one we've considered too except not a fan of Liz/Lizzie so perfect as a mn :)

Rose Elizabeth much better than Rose Evelyn.

swancourt · 08/02/2016 11:55

He also likes Rose Felicity or Rose Naomi for their connotations of happiness. We have often toyed with the middle name 'Joy', which wouldn't work here at all!

Rose Elizabeth is my favourite.

Rose yes :) but elizabeth is too sensible for me. Unsure why I think sensible :/ maybe the royal connection. Also makes me think stroppy and bossy....must have been one in a previous life HA.

I like the 'sounds' of Naomi.

Best of luck, Im no way near with names yet! ahhh

I know a lot of people on MN frown on the "chosen nicknames" thing, but I think with pretty much all of the combinations you've listed a longer first name goes better if you're saying the full name. What about Rosalin/Rosamund/Rosemary or similar, with Rose as the day to day nickname?

Report
swancourt · 09/02/2016 22:23

Thanks statistically. As somebody else said upthread, though, I'm not really bothered about flow unless it was really ugly/ungainly/impossible to say. I can't call the baby Rosalyn because there is one in my life, randomly, who also shares my surname! And I really don't like Rosamund/Rosemary/Roseanna, etc. I just really love Rose.

I do like Rose Naomi.

My other daughters have 'E' middle names, by coincidence, so I thought I should continue the theme. I know what you mean about it being very sensible. DH think it's fussy.
