I'm thinking it's pretty, but slightly different; would really like your views on it Smile

Thank you x

Is it a variant of Emlyn for a boy or Emmeline for a girl?

I don't like it - sorry. It sounds clunky.

Pronounced Emmy-Lyn? If so I imagine it said in an American accent in the style of Peggy-Sue or Billy-Ray

I would say it as 'Emme-lyn' (how it looks!)

If you don't want it said this way - go for Emmalyn Smile

I prefer Emmeline

I think Emmeline is pretty too. Emmelyn could sound like the Deep South if you stress the 'Lynn'

Emmeline is nicer imo

Emmeline is much nicer IMO

I prefer Emmeline. It's one of my favourite girls' name.

I wouldn't be sure about the pronunciation. Emmeline is very pretty.

(I have an irrational dislike of -lyn names. Evelyn being so popular is a confusion to me. I think it feels outdated, reminds me of Marilyn)

Seems a bit contrived

I say it in my head like Emlyn Hughes.

I think she'd marry billy Bob

I love Emmeline but am not keen on this spelling TBH.

My first crush...the very lovely late Emlyn Hughes! Who called his children Emma Lynn and Emlyn!

I have a friend in her 50s called Emilyn - I think it's a lovely name Smile

Like other contributors I prefer Emmeline. It sounds classier and is named after some awesome women.

That's hilarious turdfairy. He obviously had a ummm, 'healthy' ego! Grin

Sorry, also conjours up thoughts of Emlyn Hughes

If you want Emme-Lyn then that's one thing. Emmeline is much nicer, though.

Ah, didn't realise Emlyn Hughes was no longer with us Sad - and now you've said it does remind me of him.

Agree - don't like Emmelyn for a girl at all I'm afraid - how about Emma? Beautiful name, classic and actually not overly used these days.

Monkeymonstermum · 07/02/2016 05:31

Or Evangeline?

Emlyn Hughes wasn't nice, by the way: he didn't agree with people of African-Caribbean heritage playing for England...
