DS was born a bit early yesterday after a v.fast labour which has left me a bit shell shocked. We knew we were a bit stuck for names but assumed inspiration would strike when he was born.....sadly not!

I really love Kit, but a) Dh is not convinced, and b) it's recent celebrity use puts me off.....

Names we like but maybe not enough include Edward, Jack, Luke, Eric, and Tom.

Been doing some 2am googled (so my judgement might be a bit off) and have seen Wolf, Heath, Ash, Robin (but dislike Rob as a nn).

Help. As you can see the names are all a bit random. He'll be Baby for a while at this rate :-(

Googling I mean! I think the dilemma is I like a few traditional names but am not sure they're interesting enough, and then again I like the unusual names on the list but worry they're a bit too brave. Kit seemed like middle ground Confused

I absolutely love the name Heath. It would have been on my list if it wasn't for the fact our last name is one syllable and begins with H. So my vote is definitely for Heath Smile congratulations Flowers

Edward. Can be shortened to Eddie or Ted. You don't meet too many of them and it's such a great name.

I think he suits Kit. I'm pregnant and hormonal though and until yesterday thought Marmaduke was a cool name for DC3 so not sure how much weight you'd want to give my say...

I also like Keir, Patrick, Henry and Ted/Theo

A friend of mine has just called her Ds Nate, short for Nathaniel Smile

Why call him Christopher? Then you have the option of Kit, Chris or even Topher!

Gorgeous baby!

Congratulations! Y'know, nothing bad happens if you wait for a while - and just enjoy his gorgeousness (he's very cute!)

Could you go for a non-standard spelling of one of your classics - say Tomas/Tomsk (OK, Tomsk is a wombles name, but I like it!!) rather than Thomas, Luka rather than Luke, Harrison rather than Harry? I would avoid names where you don't like the nn - too dangerous imo!
From your list, I like Heath and Kit best - with Tom as my personal third. But I would worry that Heath(cliff) sets up very specific expectations... How about Laurence (Laurie) as a similar option?

I know a Kit but his given name is Kristian rather than Christopher.

John or Peter, totally exotic in under 10s(20s?) :)
Maybe Jonathan too (Jon)
