DH thinks it sounds very religious (we are not) but I don't see that as a bad thing... Opinions? :)

It is my top favourite boys name. However it would just be too unusual for me to actually use. Although maybe as a middle name. Great Biblical story behind it.
I am a born-again Christian and I have known one Josiah at church, always went by Joe.

Love it!

I think of Josiah Wedgwood.

We would probably call him Jo/JoJo/Joey :) yeah, I was thinking for the middle! But I do like it for a 1st name

Yeah I like the Josiah Wedgewood old fashioned feel of it too, as well as the Biblical roots. Go for it OP!

Agree with DH. It's a bit fundamentalist sounding.

It reminds me of the Duggars too (which isn't a great association), but the name itself isn't bad.

It's one of ds2's middle names.

Is it pronounced "Jo-Siah" or "Ho-siah"?

Does sound very religious to me, in a Victorian sort of way. But ultra religious names seem to be in fashion these days.

Love love it, would be using it for baby due next week if it wasn't same initial as my ds1.
Josiah Bartlett is the president in the West Wing, goes by Jed.. A great association!!

Jethro is another one I love but can't use cos of the initial..what about that?? Smile

Yes, lovely under-used name. And , if it seems too much in the playground, he can always be Jo!

Love it but it's actually the possibility of the nickname Joe that puts me off using it. Josiah is stunning Joe is meh.

If I didn't have a close family member with a similar name, I was going to use Josiah because I loved the West Wing so much!

There is an artist named Jazza (you can also find his youtube channel with that name) and his first name is Josiah, so I associate a highly talented artist with that name

Love it. I always think of Josiah wedgewood. I don't think if it as religious.

I think Noah is a very religious name, but that is very popular at the moment
