What say you, yay or nay?

Apparently it's biblical and means gift. I know it can mean coward in Scotland but we are in England so I don't think it would attract much teasing here.

Jess as nn. Surname would be S*v*ll.

Thanks 💐

Yes, its fine.

SpendSpendSpend Fri 25-Dec-15 00:57:15

I think its very feminine

Missdee2014 Fri 25-Dec-15 01:19:34

I'm in Scotland so immediately think the negative here of him being called a 'wee Jessie' Even in England, I wouldn't do it - what if he eventually moves to Scotland (for study or work etc).

GnocchiGnocchiWhosThere Fri 25-Dec-15 01:22:32

This comes up a lot. I can safely say from experience, not if you're in Scotland!

I love it. I'm trying to convince DP. Breaking Bad did good service to my arguments grin

I teach a Jesse. He hates it as everyone asks him why he has a girl's name. Personally I think it's a bit too cutesy

mammmamia Fri 25-Dec-15 02:01:34

I love it.

Sophronia Fri 25-Dec-15 13:38:49

I like it, and think it's quite a strong name rather than cutesy or feminine

Belazu84 Fri 25-Dec-15 13:39:50

I know a 10 year old Jesse who is super cool and no one teases him... I think it's fine in the UK!

Whoknewitcouldbeso Fri 25-Dec-15 16:31:15

Oh gosh. I've gone off of it and now DP loves it!!

We have Louis, Nicholas, Christian, Dominic, Joshua and Jesse and I don't love why of them 😤

Whoknewitcouldbeso Fri 25-Dec-15 16:31:58

*any

Oysterbabe Fri 25-Dec-15 19:41:03

I really like it.
We can't use it because I have a niece Jessica who gets called Jess but I would otherwise.

Terrifiedandregretful Fri 25-Dec-15 19:48:23

I love it, but I wouldn't use it because I do think it would make a less than 100% confident child a target for bullying.

Sophronia Fri 25-Dec-15 20:09:02

I love Nicholas and Dominic from your list.

xmasseason Fri 25-Dec-15 22:45:21

I like Nicholas, Christian and Joshua.

Whoknewitcouldbeso Sat 26-Dec-15 01:25:23

We think we are going to go with Joshua 😜. It's pretty high in the top
100 but it's really the only name we both really like.

Obloquy Sat 26-Dec-15 06:43:35

Congratulations! flowers cake

Joshua is a very nice name.

For what it's worth, I think Jesse is a great name. I know two in their late teens/early twenties and it's never been a problem for them, they love their names. smile

blatantplacemark Sat 26-Dec-15 17:45:00

Joshua's are yen a penny. Be a little original and go with Jesse.

SwedishEdith Sat 26-Dec-15 17:55:28

I think of it as a strong male name as well.

SwedishEdith Sat 26-Dec-15 17:56:48

I like all of your list except Joshua.

SirChenjin Sat 26-Dec-15 18:06:51

Joshua's aren't ten a penny round here - it all depends on where you live in the UK as to how common a particular name is. I love all of the other names from the list, but Jesse is awful imo - and even worse because we live in Scotland.
