Please no more Toby and Theos!

Every other child I meet at toddler groups is called one of these two names! Why the sudden surge in popularity?

Perfectly ok names, but suddenly so tired-sounding!

If you're thinking of one of these, go foe Marmaduke/Huckleberry or Zebedee instead and the register will sound much more interesting!

Felixes and Maxes round these parts. Only one Toby at nursery but what seems like dozens of Maxes.

There's actually a Zebedee, nickname Zeb, in my ds's class and I love it!

It's funny isn't it. I have been teaching for 8 years and have never taught a Noah or a Theo. I have taught one Toby. In our current school of over 500 children there is one Noah and I know of one outside of school. Clearly not a popular name around here!

Really? I've got a 17 year old one of those, so no idea what names are popular at nurseries. We called him it because it was uncomplicated, no stereotypes, and a splattering across all age groups but not popular in any one group. If that's changed then....bugger Grin

All baby name threads seem to be about Noah and I agree, Reuben.

DSs class has multiple Harrison's, Liam's, Mason's and Dylan's
In his much more middle class previous school it was Oliver, Benjamin, Joseph & Louis

Lots of Joshuas, Ruebens, Harrys, Freddys, Archies, Maxs and Zachs. Every girl I meet is called Lily.

I have a 13 yr old with one of those names. Has it really become so popular? He was the only one in his year with that name (120 kids)

Reubens and Noahs here. Every single boy under 4 is one or the other (apart from my DS).

And they're both so.....wet Confused

Henry is very popular at one activity we go to. There were 3 in a class of 12 at one point. I really like Toby and Theo and haven't met any.

Every boy in my dc's infants school is Harry, Alfie, Archie or Jack. Maybe we need some Reubens to mix things up a bit??

My ex bf was a Theo. He was a bastard. That's all I think when I hear that name which is unfortunate for the lovely little ones I've come across at baby groups
Shame they're everywhere now

I think the Reubens are mostly under 5s - the ones I've met, anyway.

For girls, lots of Lilys, Sophies Hollys and Evies..

Alex's - hordes & hordes of them
It's my 30+ year old brother's name so I don't dislike it, just so many of them!

I am a primary school teacher and have taught in 5 schools I haven't met any other Reuben's. I also go to lots of toddler groups with my 2 year old and never met a Reuben. Don't know what you mean?!

Yeah I would agree Oliver, Jack and Harry are popular names but not Reuben... Sorry!

Oliver's and Oscars here. Loads of friends and nearly all their boys got one of these names ..plus loads at playgroup. Not saying they're horrible names at all but so popular at the moment
