I'm guessing it's quite an old fashioned name as I've looked after a few elderly ladies with this name, but haven't come across any little dulcie's yet. What's everyone's opinion x

It's very pretty, a lovely name, and a name that will grow up with her.

Love it, have loved it for forever. There is a character (tiny part) in the movie Cocktail called Dulce and I've loved it since then.

Ahhh, in always thought it was pronounced Dul-Chee!

Now I know the correct way to say it I think it is lovely.

Dulcie Clementine would be FAB (I know you didn't ask for middle names but can't help myself) also Dulcie Juniper!

Jamie Dornan has a Dulcie!

Are you certain about the Doll-Cee pronunciation?

All the ones I've met are Dull-Cee (which is lovely) so you and she will have a lifetime of correcting it as I think it naturally reads as Dull-Cee.

I think the pronounciation is more like Dull-sea

The Dulcie that I know in real life (early 30s) definitely pronounces her name 'Dullsea'. I've never heard it said 'Dollcee'.

I love the 'Dullsea' pronunciation, not so sure about it said with the 'Doll' sound.

I know a 2 year old Dulcie. I think it's lovely, I was quite disappointed a friend chose the name as it had always been on my name list

I think it's very cute. It has an appealing cuddly feel to it.
Is it short for something?

Bohemond · 30/10/2015 19:32

I know a lovely Dulcie aged 11

DontBeAThoughtlessBirdie · 30/10/2015 19:33

I quite like it but, unreasonably, I also think of 'dunce'.

Report
celtictoast · 30/10/2015 19:34

Sorry but I don't like it. It's a bit fusty sounding.

Report
Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 30/10/2015 19:34

Horrible sorry, but it seems very popular on here

reuset · 30/10/2015 22:12

It's dull-see, not d o ll-sea. If you're going to use it make sure you can pronounce it vaguely correctly is my tip of the day.

Twee meaning (sweet) and dulce du leche springs to mind (yum, though it is sickly sweet, granted). Nick name 'dull'. Not one of my favourite names

You could probably have it short for Dulcinea (v. Don Q.) or Dulcibel, or some other such name, so then Dulcie on its own starts to look more appealing.
