What do you think?

Classic and pretty or just terribly old fashioned?

Love it. Was my second choice for DD2.

I also prefer Marianne, and I like the spelling Marian better than Marion.

I prefer Marianne. Marion imo is old fashioned but given Sylvia and Daphne receive positive comments on Mn I expect on balance the comments you receive here will be positive

vestandknickers · 20/09/2015 16:46

Please don't!

Nothing wrong with it. Not fashionable at the moment, but who cares. It could be quite chic at the moment I suppose, due to French film star, Marion Cotillard.

Have to say I think I prefer Marian though. And Marianne is gorgeous of course.

I think it would get misspelled all the time

Love it.

Gorgeous name.

Happily not fashionable, but I think it will be within a few years.

Pretty - a bit old fashioned but then, old fashioned names are in.
Maren/Marin is quite similar?

I do prefer Marian though.

Awful - Marianne is lovely though!

It's my MILs name so I've sometimes thought it might end up as mn for a future dd.
I think if that were the case I'd insist on altering it to Marianne though, which I just think is so pretty and more modern then Marion, which sounds a little harsh/abrupt IMO. I think Marian is nicer too.

Love it.

Hate Marian/Marianne.

Marion Cunningham was in Happy Days Grin

I like it but it's a new Thomas the Tank Engine character.

I like it. My best friend's mum was called it, but then so is one of SJP's twins.

I read your title as Marlon for a boy - I was going to say - love it!

But Marion, - no, hideous - sorry

Heads off to spec savers Blush

Lovely lovely name, spelled Marion or Marian.

Marianne has the emphasis on the "-anne" bit, rather than the "Ma-", and feels a different name.
