My friend's put a fb post up showing that this is to be her DD's name when it's born next year. It's unusual and I'm not sure how to pronounce it.

An-I-ah.

Gosh I find it odd when people announce the future names of bumps.

I wouldn't say it. It's not a word. I'd have to ask how they wanted me to pronounce that random collection of letters.

A-nai-a.

I think that's a character from a fairly long series of fantasy books. If so, there's aa glossary of name pronunciations at the back. Should be in book 2 or 3. ;)

They've bought personalised items already for the baby so I hope it does come out as a girl. :)

Had a quick google - Nadine Cole's daughter is an Anaiya.

I'd go with A - nay - ah.

But I think they want it pronounced ay - nay - ah.

Each to their own.

I know an Anaiya. A-nay-a. I like it but gets confused with Anya a lot.

I teach one of these (although she adds an 'h' to the end and she pronounces it An-eye-a.

It is ah-nay-ah, and is more commonly found as Anaya, and traditionally is a Jewish boy's name (although now used for both genders).
