Trying to pick the perfect name with a special meaning!

My son is called Charlie and my daughter is called Tilly.
We are TTC baby number 3, and have miscarried twice in the last 7 months. So we would like a very special name if it was a girl. Boys we are fine on. I have googled so many meaningful names and have a list - The trouble is I like so many and DH doesn't.

I did think about having a name similar in meaning to Tilly, which is mighty in war or strength in battle. I thought if we successfully carry she would very much be a little fighter, but all the names I like are too similar to Tilly for example Tilda.

Other names considered are:
Gabriella - gods messenger or warrior of god
Beatrix -she who brings happiness
Tessa- the meaning isn't that great, think it means harvester or to reap. but I love this name
Ada- prosperous and happy
Dorothy - gift of god DH says he doesn't like it

My list could go on MN would either be a family name Mary meaning wished for child or something star/moon/constellation related like Phoebe

Any other names with great meanings such as love, miracle, etc would be great and that fits with siblings names. Then I just have to convince DH

Hmm.
If you and dh don't always like the same names anyway, then I'd strt by making a big list of names you like the sound of first, and not worry too much about what someone says they 'mean' as no-one apart from you is going to know that anyway.
Once you have a long, long list, then get dh to rule out ones he doesn't like (or both make long lists and see if any crossover), then you can start looking up so called meanings of the ones on your shortlist.
If you start from the meaning, it will be much more difficult, IMO

That's great advice, thank you. Strange how we agreed on a boys name straight away.

I think this time around I wanted a special meaning and DH agreed to that as well, seeing as we have had so much heart ache.

Some of the meanings there aren't quite right

Gabriella means 'god is my strong man'
Beatrix means 'voyager/traveller'
Ada means 'noble'

(these meanings are from BehindTheName which is generally very accurate)

I like Ada with Charlie and Tilly.

We had a similar situation with our DD after a long time TTc and 2 x miscarriages plus other problems. We picked the middle name Arabella it means answered prayer which our DD is very much! Her first name means warm & affectionate or little dove depending on what you read.

Felicity means happiness, Miriam is 'wished for child' and Zoe means 'life'. Lucy is 'light' so that would be another possibility, or Talitha which means 'little girl' or 'little girl, arise'. Theadora is another that means 'gift of God' but is a bit different to Dorothy, Olive meaning 'peace' could represent you being at peace once DC3 arrives...?

Other Germanic names such as Alice (noble) or Harriet (home ruler) would work with Matilda too.

We lost three on the way to having our DD

She's called Lois: it means wanted or desired.

Which she was.
