So having been roundly assured that Tess is not an acceptable nn for Elizabeth Grin what is your favourite shortening of:

Elizabeth/Elisabeth
Alexandra

Thanks

Beth and Alexi. I also like Libby.

Libby
Possibly Beth
Lexi (although MN doesn't like this, apparently) or Allie.
I don't like Alex for a girl.

Beth and Alex (but I don't love it, though I adore Sacha if it's a nn for Alexander)

Beth and Alex.

Both gorgeous names BTW. I love Elisabeth because the owner can choose her NN from such a variety Smile

Lizzie and Alex :)

Both names have endless nickname potential though. I know three Elizabeths who go by Lizzie, Beth and Libby respectively.

Lexie is common in Scotland.

I used to like Beth but Libby has grown on me.

Alexandra is a lovely name but I dislike it being shortened to Alex for girls and don't like Lexy. I don't consider Alexa a shortening as it's still too long. So that lives Allie, basically.

I know an Alexia who goes by Zia which is nice.

I like Lexi but there are quite a few around and I don't feel it ages well - managing director called Lexi type thing. feel the same about Libby, like it but not sure it will grow up with the child.

Oooh, Zia is interesting and a bit different.

Hadnt thought of Alexa/Alexi and I like those, again a bit less mainstream.

I have a soft spot for Lizzie due to pride and prejudice! but I don't like Liz which it will likely end up as as she gets older.

Part of what I like about the names is it will give her so many options if she wants them. my name only has one standard shortening and it was an 'of the time' name so there were about 10 in my class and no other shortening options which I want to avoid!

Beth and Alix (don't know if it's a regional thing, but the Alexandra's I know shorten to Alix rather than Alex)
