Eugene - love it or hate it?

I really love it and would have Gene for short. DP doesn't hate it but doesn't exactly love it either. Just wondered if it's a Marmite name.

I was just googling the name to see if I could find any famous Eugenes to add some credibility and instead found the following definition in the Urban Dictionary;

Sorry, I get nerdy vibes from Eugene too as I can think of several shows and films with weedy, dorky Eugenes. Gene is a bit cooler, but just sounds a bit like Jean. I don't think this is much of a problem as Jean isn't really used anymore!

I think of a person called Eugene who was in Big Brother. He was very geeky.

I used to know someone who knew Eugene and was very boastful about it. (Because of his Big Brother fame ). I ended up meeting Eugene through the boastful guy, and he was as geeky as he appeared on the TV.

To summarise, no I'm not keen.
