Baby names

Felicity or Georgina?

Sorry to keep hammering on this, just think we've narrowed it down to these two names and could use help deciding! Other two DDs are Philippa Winter and Vivienne Gray (Pippa/Pip and Vivi). Middle name would probably be either Susan (my mum's name), Jane, Constance, or Eleanor... though open to other options.

So... Felicity or Georgina?

Felicity pros/cons:

  • really like the meaning ('happy')
  • full name more exciting than nickname selection (though I like Liss/Lissie and DH likes Flick, so we could make it work)
  • quite similar to Philippa, though we never use Pip's full name, this is potentially a non-issue
  • possibly getting too popular?

Georgina pros/cons:
  • meaning a bit blah ('farmer'...), but not a huge deal
  • nickname options, particularly 'Georgie', more exciting than the full name
  • doesn't sound as similar as Felicity does, which is good
  • not super popular but still feels familiar

I think Felicity is too close to Philippa so I'd go with Georgina.

I like Felicity - in fact the baby in utero (currently overdue!!) is likely to be a Felicity if it's a girl.

I'm also concerned it's maybe getting a bit popular but I haven't actually met any little ones myself, only seen the name on here...

Philippa also on our list - great minds Smile

Georgina. I'm not keen on Felicity.

They are both lovely names but I think Philippa and Felicity are too similar sounding so I'd chose Georgina. My SIL is a Philippa. She was known as Pip as a child but she uses Philippa as an adult and prefers it over Pip.

Georgina Jane is nice.

Felicity always makes me think 'electricity' and agree that it's too close to Philippa. Georgina is lovely.

How funny pas, yes it feels like a lot of pregnant women I know are considering Felicity, hence the worry! Confused

Felicity is beautiful. Georgina is boring, I've taught loads of Georginas/Georgias/ Georgies, yawn. Although I do teach one who shortens it to Nina, lovely. Never taught a Felicity and Fliss is cute as a nn

Wow I have a dd Georgia/Georgie and Felicity/Philippa/and Vivienne on my short list for dc2 (on route).
I love Georgie as a nickname and really like Felicity- I don't know any other babies or children with either name although I know adult Georgina's and one Felicity so not overly used here. Sorry not much help but both lovely names

I love Georgie as a nn. Current bump had this as a working title for a while. Goes nicely with your other names. I fear Felicity is too similar to Philippa.

I love Felicity. Hate Georgina - it makes me think of sausages; same sort of sound. Also there are loads of Georgias and Georgies around.

I have a 19 month old Felicity, don't know any others (yet!) and the local vicar told me today that he has never christened a Felicity, bizarrely! We always get positive comments from people, and it just feels like a happy name to me Smile. DD is a sunny little thing and it suits her down to the ground.
I also love Georgina and am considering it for DD2 due in 4 weeks, so not much help!

Georgina, although they're both lovely names.

I don't like the nicknames for Felicity.

I had a friend called Felicity whose nickname was Fizz - just thought I'd add to the conversation

Felicity is one of my favourite names ever but I'd go with Georgina as it sounds so similar to Philippa.

With fliss or flick as a nn.
Very pretty and girly.

Definitely Georgina, my lovely grand name and my middle name.

So... a third option has reared its head. Claudia, potential nickname Laudie (like Lottie but with a d sound)? Better than both or worse?
