My dentist. He's very nice!

I think of Noel Gallagher
And Christmas

But still think it's a nice name - I was at school with a Noel and he was a nice guy, very very bright, a bit head in the clouds but a decent bloke all the same.

Mancunian men of Irish origin. Not just the Gallagher but several others I've known.

Christmas
Noel's House Party
Noel Streatfeild
Noel out of the Treasure Seekers.
In that order.

Christmas (generally) which is by far the strongest association.

Noel Edmonds

and despite the change of sex Noele Gordon (played the motel owner in Crossroads)

Well I think Edmonds and House Party but Noel Gallagher is DH's hero and he wants to name baby after him (and I'm not sure a monobrowed Mancunian is a better image to conjure up than Mr Blobby anyway....)

So think I'm sticking with 'No' to Noel!

That's nice gymboy if I had a nice real life person to associate the name with it might be easier to agree to!

Christmas and Noel Coward...
The name was traditionally only used for babies born around Christmas time, unless there were other family reasons.

How about Gallagher as a middle name? There is a lovely poem by Liz Lochhead (I think) about a child's imaginary friend called 'Desmond Gallagher'.

I don't like it at all, sorry. I used to teach one - and he looked like a wrinkly old man even aged 14. Sorry.
