Wrong time of year for a Holly??

One of our possible baby names is Holly. Mum said today it's normally a winter name so now I'm not to sure.
Also struggling for a middle name
Already have Alfie George, Harriet Sophia, Holly ...

could you post some sweet little girls names please.

I know a Holly born in July. Names are not seasonal in my opinion. She'll be called Holly all year I assume, and not have spring, summer and autumn names as well.

There's no rule that says Hollys can only be born in winter, the only name I can think of where people might even ask if they had a winter/December birthday is Noel. You could also spell it Hollie to remove any connection with Christmas.

I don't see how Holly is any different from Rose, Lily, Daisy or any plant name in this respect. There is a holly tree in my garden and it's there all year round. Ridiculous to suggest it's only for winter! Would anybody veto Violet for a child born in autumn because violets are spring flowers? No, they would not.

Please don't spell it Hollie, it looks twee and is meaningless.

My DD is Celyn, Welsh for Holly, and I've not had anyone Welsh bat an eyelid when they find out she was born in April.

Thank you all for your replies, I've really struggled to come up with a name both me and OH like.
I didn't even think about the winter or christmasy link either so I'm happy most people don't either.
Just to come up with a middle name hehe x

My daughter is Hollie (no more twee than any other name ending in ie but that's my opinion). She was born in April and nobody seems too concerned.
It's a lovely name :)

My cousin is Robin Holly born in April! If you like it, go for it. I wouldn't associate it particularly with winter x

My name matches the season I was born in. Probably more annoying that way round than not as everyone thinks they're the first to point out the connection and was it on purpose... I'd def go with Holly now, it's a lovely name and people are less likely to make the connection to Christmas at this time of year!

Holly can be used any time of year! Would think it was a bit cutesy if someone had a December baby and called her Holly... Better some other time of the year.

Holly is popular enough so that it's not seasonal any more- Holly Elizabeth is very pretty

Interesting fact though is that the number of babies registered Holly is highest in December (and into early Jan, presumably for babies born in Dec)

Was thinking of Holly for my little girl, but DH's grannie says "You can't call her Holly, it's Christmassy". Her name was Ivy and her birthday was in June!

I gave birth on Saturday, and we've named her Holly Victoria.

I asked the same question when deciding, but as everyone reminded me, Holly is evergreen and beautiful all year round :)
