Love this name but my Scottish accent doesn't do it justice as my Rs are too harsh. CAn you think of any similar names? Nothing ending in ie/y due to surname.

What accent do you have Melon? It sounds fine in mine :) I have a very generic sounding Scottish accent though.

Farah means happiness in Arabic but when I pronounce it it means mouse.
This shouldn't be a problem for you in Scotland though!

Aww this is cute as when our dd was born she was tiny with big ears so actually looked like a wee mouse haha.

I think it will be fine then Mellon. I'm originally from Edinburgh but moved about a bit as an adult. I've been told I sound Scottish but with an unidentifiable accent. A few guesses for Perthshire or Central Highlands nth areas that I've never lived in.

It didn't sound great when I tried it with a Glasgow accent. I quite like it, but I prefer Fallon.

No one can guess my accent either. We live in northern Ireland and I'm trying to say it with that accent but I think they'd merge it to one syllable.. Waaaaa

Generic Scottish accent here too and I think it sounds lovely. I also have a friend called Farah with a stronger accent than mine and it sounds beautiful when she says it too, have loved it since I met her years ago. If it went with our surname it would be on my list.

I think Farrah would be swallowed whole by the NI accents of all her little friends as she grows up and goes to school. Nothing to do with the Rs, just the way the emphasis is placed on the first syllable in most NI accents.

A three syllable name would be less likely to be mangled.

I think I'm missing the point by worrying about my Scottish accent instead of the northern Irish which 99% of people in her life will be using. So hard to find a name that sounds nice said in both!
