I teach boys so am finding this so hard.ds due in couple of months, we have a Margaret (Maggie) Roisin (irish dad) and a surname starting with s, so names ending is s are a bit odd.

Wouldn't mind an Irish name or middle name but I like traditional with a nice nickname or a few options for nicnames.

DH agrees with none of my suggestions:

Nathaniel (nate) My favourite, his middle name
Euan
Ethan
Niall

His suggestion? Ragnar. It's Icelandic, apparently. I have absolutely said no way.

Ragnar!? Shock

Is that his only suggestion?

It will be hard to hit on middle ground if that's all he has come up with....

There's lots of nice ones there, thanks, will try them out on him.

We had the same trouble with dd, but once she was here and he was all loved up then I just started calling her Maggie and we both loved it.

I managed to make two threads of this, no idea how, but he started last night to say that Nathaniel was 'ok'.

Why he thinks Ragnar is nice I have no idea. He just keeps saying it's the name of the Icelandic prime minister and that his family are Vikings way back.

Mental.

I like from those

Gregory
Evan
Jude (but I just think of Jude the obscure.. Makes me sad)
Rory
Ronan
Patrick (don't like paddy tho, he would end up as paddy)

My problem is I know about 40 of each of Thomas, Joseph, Liam, plus probably 10 of each of the rest, nit so much the Irish names but still surprisingly a few, big Irish famillies here.
I must 'know' or teach 300 odd boys a year, 10 years of teaching, that's a lot of associations! Maybe I should wait till I finish work before thinking about it.

Ragnarok is the battle at the end of the world - that might dissuade him?
