We're quite stuck for DD3. Our short list so far is below - what do you think? It's quite a mixed bag but I like them all. This is the first time we've not had a name ready and organised and I'm starting to panic. Thanks.

Frances
Erica
Meryl
Merryn (will it be confused with Erin?)
Penelope

Our friends just had a Merryn, she is about 9 months. She is lovely baby but I find her name hard to remember! It just sounds so soft.

Merryn is beautiful - I loved Mirran but DH says No spoil sport

Erica and Penelope are also gorgeous :)

Not sure about Meryl, I would be tempted to spell it Meryle to make it more feminine.

I adore Frances. It's a beautiful understated name.

I love France's

Thanks-
I'm worried that Frances would be called Frankie, which. I don't like at all. Like Fran, though.

Meryl I love and like the idea of using nn Merry for a Christmas baby? For me it just pips Merryn over the post.

Erica's always been a front-runner but am wobbling. Soooo hard to choose.

Meryl will be easier to remember and rolls off the tongue better than Merryn. Both of these names are the nicest on your list.

I know a Meryl and the pronunciation seems to stump some people.

She often gets called M-earl by people who have only seen her name written down.

I think Merryn sounds nicer fwiw

Thanks all.... But no concensus! I'm worried about the 'wAit to see what she looks like' thing, because what if I think, 'yep, definitely a Meryl' and DH thinks, 'yep, definitely an Erica'?

I'm pretty sure DH has vetoed Penelope now but I think it's too pretty to discount.

Would you involve the other children in the decision? Give them a short list and ask for their input?

Frances is my favourite by far. I have a very glamourous and lovely auntie Frances and a dear friend Frances so it has good associations for me. I met a baby Frances recently and she was gorgeous. Sadly it doesn't go with our surname or I'd have considered it for our daughter.

I like them all op, in my case dh vetoed penelope too.

We don't have any other dc but I know people who couldn't decide and gave their other dc the deciding vote I thought that was a great idea. If I was to have another one and dd was old enough she'd absolutely get a say.

Love Merryn. Merry is a cute nn and Merryn is a strong name for a grown woman too I think.
