Bla sums up how DH is feeling about this naming malarkey and he just won't engage! As I don't want to talk to anyone in real life about names, I'm hoping to get some opinions here as we don't have long to go at all.

Freddie (Frederick) is my favourite name and has been for years. DH isn't saying no to it but he's not convinced and I'm finding it hard to look past it and find any other names I love.

Below are ones that I like and that DH hasn't instantly rejected:

Frederick (my favourite)
Alexander (Sadly prob can't use but can't quite let it go!)
Arthur (like)
Hugo (Keep changing my mind. At the moment I'm not so sure about it!)
Ralph (cute and like nn Rafi for it but might feel a bit silly calling out Ralph!)
John (Johnny) (We've established neither of us like Jonathan and prefer John but a bit meh about this one!)
Joseph (also a bit meh about it)
Humphrey (outside bet-more likely to use for a future pet!)

Any other suggestions of names I can throw at DH for him to most likely instantly reject?

In the rejected pile are:

Charles
George
William
Peter
David
Sebastian
Louis
James
Christopher
And a whole host of others I can't remember any more!!

Nice names electrolado but sadly most have either been rejected or can't be used!

That website is genius-I will definitely try and get him to do this!

I'm current on Geoffrey - am single handedly trying to get all of MN to name their boys Geoffrey this month. Geoffrey Rush, a.o.. And you can still call him Freddie!
Victor. Harry. Ezra. Wilhelm. Quentin. Marcus. Ooh, go seventies with Clive. Shock

I have a John or Johnny! He was born in July. At first I wasn't sure at all but hubby really wanted it. Now I love it! You can 'cute it up' with the y - like Freddy (which was my number 1 choice!) to me Johnny is a fun, good guy but you also have strength in the name john. It's not massively popular right now (I don't think) whereas Freddy is so hopefully when he is older he will have a strong name which not many of his peers will have. Good luck!

If you like Ralph, Hugo and Humphrey what about Rufus or Rupert?

I think Alfred is nicer for nn Freddie than Frederick. You have the option of Alfie then too.
Joseph is lovely and lots of nickname potential. (It's on our shortlist for ds2 due next Tues! Eek!)
How about
Douglas
Burt
Stanley
Ernest

Frederick - meh. I've heard it lots lately.
Alexander-I have an irrational dislike for.
Arthur- prefer Ernest if it's grandad chic you're after
Hugo- really like. Like Hugh even more.
Ralph- don't like the sound of it. Rafferty sounds nicer.
John - dull
Joseph- classic. Lovely.
Humphrey- undecided!

I offer:
Bruce
Vincent
Leonard

Do what my friend did... Her dh hated her name choice so she waited until she just gave birth and he held him and said 'pleeeeease can we call him xxx' worked like a charm ha ha! That's my plan for our next one ;)

Conrad is unusual but now unheard of, if that helps.

Frederick - I've never warmed to this one - makes me think of a gardener or chauffeur or something in a Victorian BBC drama.
Alexander - Fab! And so many lovely nns.
Arthur - same as Frederick but more so.
Hugo - great name but in the UK has certain "class" connotations.
Ralph - make she think vomit. Also makes me think of a lovely boy I had a mini-fling with at school. He was gorgeous except for his name.
John (Johnny) I actualy prefer Jonathan but John is great and overdue for a comeback.
Joseph - too biblical for me.
Humphrey - Actually pretty good.

What about:

Leo
Patrick
Henry
Andrew
Richard (Richie)
Lachlan
Alistair
