Baby names

Ideas needed for girls names please!

Hi there

I am only 22 weeks pregnant so not getting too desperate yet, but we are having trouble finding any girls' names we agree on.

My choices so far, all vetoed by DP, are:
Mairi
Rosa or Rosalie
Beth
Billie
Frankie

DP's choices, which I like but have various reasons for objecting to, are:
Eva (this is my boss's daughter's name)
Bella (too much to live up to)
Emma (nice but a bit boring)

The baby's big sister is Jessie, middle name will (if I get my choice!) be Morag, and surname begins with F.

Any suggestions welcome

I think you need a three or four syllable name to precede Morag. So Rosalie Morag sounds better than Rosa Morag. Instead of Emma, how about Emily?

Morna or Muirenn or Marsaili rather than Mairi?
Rosalind or Rosamund or Roseanna rather than Rosa/Rosalie?
Elspeth rather than Beth?
Frances or Francesca rather than Frankie (nicknames will develop naturally)

Ishbel or Christabel or Mirabel rather than Bella?
Emmeline rather than Emma?

Helena?
I know Alison is not fashionable but I rather like it
Christina (Chrissie, Kirsty ... or Gaelic spellings)
I hesitate to suggest it, but Flora?

Thanks very much for the suggestions Smile

Of the ones suggested so far, I like Isabelle/Ishbel - would probably prefer Isabella to either though - and Helena. I agree that three syllables (and probably also not starting with M) would sound a lot better if Morag is the middle name - unfortunately DP is much keener on shorter names, but hopefully with a great name I could convince him. Wish I could convince him on Rosalie but he is very opposed!!

We've been doing a bit more thinking, and have come up with a few more (pretty tentative) ideas:

Ones I like are:
Susannah
Coralie
Elise

Ones that he likes are:
Maia
Amber

Ones we both like:
Celeste
Serena

I think a not-too-over-the-top three syllable name with a good one/two syllable nickname might be what we need

Mairi is my favourite from your list, but I also really like Emma.

I love Rosa/Rosalie, shame you can't talk him round!

I agree with Isabella as a suggestion though - still pretty, and not as much to live up to as Bella Smile

Thanks Aria and avocado - yes Mairi was my absolute first choice (even though it would have ruled out Morag as middle name), with Rosalie a strong second, still a bit gutted about those! ah well...

I really like your suggestion of Serena. Selina is also nice.
Could you have Rosa or Rosalie as an extra middle name, perhaps? For eg, Serena Rosalie Morag....

Rosabel? Then you have Rosie or Bella as short options. Have to say U love the sound of Elspeth Morag!
