It's not unusual, is it?? Confused Very, very common up here in Scotland.

Just that I don't know any but suppose it doesn't necessarily make it unusual.

Wouldn't describe it as unusual.

It gets quite a knocking on MN but I know some fabulous Kelly's.

I do like some dated names. I don't know, I guess it's quite pretty. But, no, just no.

It's not unusual in the mid 30s age bracket

I think it's cute too, and due a revival.

Not due a revival for about 30 years. Far too 1980s. Not particularly special. Fine on a woman my age but there are nicer names for a little girl born now.

Far from cute and unusual, there are so many more nicer names.

I like retro names, could have Kerry instead

Pandora37 · 20/10/2014 18:08

I think it sounds quite similar to some names that are popular now like Ellie, Kelsey etc. so I think Kelly would fit in in that respect. It does still seem quite dated though.

Up until spring of this year when she turned into a horrible bridezilla hellbeast I had a very good friend called Kelly. For that reason I say no Wink

Kerberos · 20/10/2014 18:12

Definitely retro.

Report
RobinSparkles · 20/10/2014 18:16

It's awful. Too 80s!

Kerry is much nicer.

Report
RobinSparkles · 20/10/2014 18:20

I can't imagine Kelly being revived. It's hard to think of lots of little baby Kellys at baby groups across the country.

Report
Lizardc · 20/10/2014 19:32

Nope, neither cute (definitely not) nor unusual, sorry :(. But neither is Kerry...

There are lots of much much nicer names out there.

BlueberryWafer · 20/10/2014 19:33

If you like the name then yes! Who cares if people think it's too "80's" it's your baby, your decision. It's not like you're calling her Rainbow Sunshine...

How about Keely? Kelly is not due a revival.

If you like the name Kelly, then use it.

I quite like Kelly, I think it is cute. Cuter than some of the old lady names that are loved by most posters in Baby Names.

Has anyone suggested Ethel or Edna yet?

I actually really love the name Kelly. It was on our short list. We actually went with Celyn, and she's sometimes called Kelly as a nickname. Do it!!!

Really don't like Kelly. It sounds a bit trampy to me

How about Sally?

It's a bit dated for me.
I don't hate it but I wouldn't choose it.

I really really dislike it.
