...but I am caught up in 16 years of wanting to ttc and finally being able to and wanting to talk to someone other than my partner about these things!

So, Liberty. For our daughter, not son, obviously Wink what are your first and honest thoughts? Middle names are chosen but with just Liberty, no other info, what do you think?

I like it too. Shortened to Libby is nice also!

Love it....and Libby if you want to shorten

I actually like it. But if you've got twins maybe steer clear of liberty and dignity, or liberty and freedom, or suchlike. Smile

Personally not keen (I like Libby - just be careful she doesn't become Bertie!)

However - after 16 years, congratulations and if you love it you definitely have to go for it!

Really like it. It's strong and pretty at the same time. I've known two little Libertys (working in early years) and they were both gorgeous, independent little things.

Although bear in mind there would be some opportunities for teenage nudge-and-wink piss taking. Are you taking the liberty fnarr fnarr etc

TweedAddict · 07/10/2014 19:58

I know 2 liberty's. Shorten to lib/ Libby. A lovely name

Warning I think George Osborne has a dd of this name!

Love it, and actually like Bertie as the less obvious nn too!

Thanks for all replies! My daughter (16) is Bethany.

We do have many twins in the family but we would be mindful of non-tweeness if we were to follow in family footsteps!

We weren't aware of the George Osborne link. Still can't tear ourselves away from the name, and love both Libby and Bertie, so I guess that speaks volumes!

And thank you all for well wishes re ttc after such a long time, I never thought I'd be here!

I like it. I would never be brave enough to use it myself though.

My best friend's name, I love it. She's a Bertie too, it's very cool.

Thank goodness no one has mentioned yoghurt!

Genuine question- if anyone thinks so, why would it be "brave" to use it?

Congratulations!

I'm pg with no 3 & also love Liberty-dh said no last time but I'd love if this is a girl-gone off some of my other female shortlist. Also like Melody but can't think if any good nns for it apart from Mel which I don't like.....

Dd1 (13) is liberty. Often lib but Bertie to her friends. We still love it and have only ever met one other

Ooh, you could have Betty and Bertie! Excellent!

Report
ChippingInLatteLover · 07/10/2014 22:11

I don't like it (sorry Smug), it's too American , too 'Freedom' - just not a name I'd choose. I do like Libby though :)

However, who cares what a bunch of randoms think!? You have been TTC for 16 years - you can call her WickedWitchOfTheWest if you like and everyone would still be thrilled for you Flowers

JubJubBirds · 07/10/2014 22:11

Love it! Love Bertie too.
