So apparently Jessica is the 6th most popular name in the 2013 stats. Really?! I didn't think it was that popular. How many do you know? Any thoughts on the name? We have a dd called Madeleine which seems to go nicely with Jessica.

It's a lovely name. One of my favourites.

It reminds me of a 1990's American cheerleader Blush

I know lots of Jessica's but most are in their teens. I really like it and agree that it goes nicely with Madeleine.

I'm a Jessica, I'm 29. There were 5 other Jessica's in my year group at school! Apart from that I only know one other aged around 9 months. I'm always surprised to see it so high up in the list.

Always surprises me, too. I'm 28 and knew lots of Jessicas around my age when I was growing up, I also know one age 7, but none younger than that.

I know 3 under 2. Of all the other under 2s I know, there are only two other duplicate names and there's 2 of each of those (both top 10 boys). That's probably from a pool of about 40.

I know a 9 year old Jessica and a 10 year old Jessie, I really like the name Jessica

I know two Jessica's, one is 18 and the other is mid 20s. I don't know any children with that name. I have, however, just used it as a middle name for my 5 week old.

Knee deep in Jessicas here.

My dd is Jessica (she is 6) and I very, very rarely meet another, in fact I can only think of one other she's known, which was at preschool a couple of years ago. She says she doesn't know any others at school, I'm always surprised at how popular it is in the charts! We never looked at the lists when we named her, just loved the name Smile In fact one of the names we're considering for dc4 is in the top 10, but not put off by this at all due to our experience with Jessica's name!

Go for it op Grin

Quite a lot of Jessica's where I am. There's 3 under 3 in our toddler group.

I'm always suprised to see that it's still so popular too. I'm in my early 20s and there were lots in my age group at school. I've always thought of it as an 80s/90s name, and I know in the US it's considered dated to that era now. I agree with a previous poster in that it reminds me of a 90s American cheerleader!

I know 7 - the oldest is 35 and the youngest is 3 months. The rest are in their 20s and late teens and one is 6. So a wide range of ages. I'm always surprised to see it's so popular as well but it's a lovely name and sounds great with Madeleine.

I know quite a lot ranging from babies to 40 something's so I doubt it'll date.

It's not one of my favourites but, if you like it go for it! I really wouldn't worry about popularity just choose the name you like best!

I'm not a fan. It's just a bit of a nothing name to me. I know three under five.

I like Jessica. I love Jessie. The great thing about this name is that she can always be Jessica, jessie or jess. Im a Chloe and although I've always kind of liked my name, part of me has always disliked there's nothing else to go with other than chlo which is more of a nickname. By naming her Jessica she can choose who she wants to be. I know this puts some parents off but I think it's a good thing

Anyway I say go for it :)

I've taught a few.

I once joked to a colleague that anyone who called themselves 'Jess' should not be allowed on the course. They have all been quite lively.

I'm always amazed to see Jessica in the top 10 too.

I have a 7 year old Jessica and don't know many others.

1 aged 26, 1 aged 17, 1 aged 15, 1 aged 13 and 1 aged 4. That's it
