Delta?

What do you think of the name Delta for a girl?

Don't even know why I'm here, not pregnant yet but after finally getting dp to agree on a 3rd dc, I'm getting ahead of myself.

We have 2 ds's already and I really struggled with girls names for them before we found out they were boys.

Dp recently mentioned Delta for a girl and it's really growing on me.

It seems to roll off the tongue nicely, not every other child is called it but yet it's still a known name (yes?) with no spelling or pronunciation issues.

If I like Delta, what else may I like?

I love it!
I had a colleague who was going to use it, then didn't- I wish she had! (I am living vicariously through other people's babies, as I can't have any more blush)

Vita is similar I think.
Romy nice too.

What are your boys' names like? SOme things co-ordinate better than others.

MidnightDinosaur Sat 23-Aug-14 11:40:12

Ds1 has an Old Testament name and ds2 has a name the same as a Scottish Island, so no theme to follow.

On my boys list is

Nico
Skylar
Ezekiel (zeke)

All of which I LOVE so no problems there Exocet choosing which one to use.

I like Vita, you're right, it is similar.

Thank you, glad at least one person like Delta so far. grin

Sorry, but it will always be an airline to me.

scaevola Sat 23-Aug-14 11:46:58

I'd think of the airline too (sorry)

What about it appeals to you?

What about Juliet or India (if you want to stay with the phonetic alphabet)?

Or Dita, Adele, Adelaide, Odette, Ottilie, Tatiana, Annette?

DuchessFanny Sat 23-Aug-14 11:50:55

I think of the phonetic alphabet and the airline when I hear it, however Delta Goodrem carries it off !
I like Vita though !

MidnightDinosaur Sat 23-Aug-14 11:51:57

India is nice.

I really like Ottilie actually.

The others just seem a bit... "Meh" to me.

I don't know what it is about Delta that appeals. When dp first mentioned it I gave him this face hmm but the more I say it out loud, the more I love it.

I really like it. When I hear it I automatically think of the very talented Australian singer called Delta Goodrem, who was also in Neighbours. From what I've heard she's a lovely girl smile

Thank you for your input.

Even though some of you have mentioned the airline being the first thing you think of, I'm still really liking the name. I mean it's not an offensive or negative association is it so not sure that it matters too much?

Still got Vita and Ottilie on the list now though. smile

GrapefruitAndCucumberLoveThem Sun 24-Aug-14 09:59:25

i like Delta, i didn't think of the airline first.

Ottillie is dreadful though. So silly. Juliet I love, Vita is nice too.

AWombWithoutARoof Sun 24-Aug-14 14:09:13

I like Delta, but would think of the airline and the singer.

What about Della or Decca?

Umbrellasandladders Sun 24-Aug-14 20:53:23

I think of Delta goodrem as well. Beautiful and talented. Great name.

HumblePieMonster Sun 24-Aug-14 20:57:31

Delta? Alpha beta gamma...

I think Whisky Tango Foxtrot.

Lifesalemon Sun 24-Aug-14 21:55:24

Savannah?

singersgirl Mon 25-Aug-14 22:13:39

Airline. River feature. Greek letter. Bad grade at school (D). Stealth bomber is a Deltawing design.

I can't see it as a name but I am old and traditional.

Singersgirl. Me too! Sorry op but I wouldn't.
