We are having a girl in 7 weeks time. We decided on the name Darcie- Mae (well hubby really liked it and I did too although like other names.) We have been calling her Darcie for months, told everyone thats her name and hubby brought bunting with her name on it!

The other day he heard the name Arabella and I love it.

We need some more names.... I like vintage name, Martha, Edith, Matilda and also Harper.

What other names might we like? Already have a Phoebe and Georgina and a dog called Florence lol

OK. My opinion is that Darcie- Mae is dreadful.
The spelling of both names. The hyphen. The over use of Mae.

Its unimaginative and childish.

Your other kids names are great.

Martha is lovely.

Harper is OK but not vintage.

Another thread running now on Elodie. Do you like that?

It's fine, you're allowed to change your mind

Naming a child is a big deal (for me, anyway) and it's nice to feel it's "right"

Why don't you just draw up a list of names and see what suits once born?

Arabella is beautiful.

Elizabeth, Victoria, Charlotte, Rose, Alexandria are vintage?

Darcie-Mae is v different from her siblings!

I know a Darcy May, no hyphen. It isn't a name I would choose but because she is so cute the name Darcy has grown on me.

I think any name hyphenated with May/Mae/Mai is just a bit bleurgh though. I was in a theme park at the weekend and every other tattoo (I love reading people's tattoos and there wasn't much else to do in the queues) seemed to be something-Mai so obviously very popular.

I don't like Arabella. I do like Martha, Edith and Matilda they are popular too though. The Beckhams have put me off Harper.

How about a combo... Darcibella?

Not loving Darcie-Mae, for the same reasons as everyone else on here really (sorry), don't hunk they go with your other dd's names either.

How about

Fleur
Otti
Harriet
Violet
Juliet
Margot

Thank you all for your opinions.

I was worried that the Darcie- Mae was a bit dreadful (to say the least!) and as time has gone on there are just so many other pretty names I like.

Hubby doesnt like alot of names I come up with..... He might be be persuaded on Martha. Originally she was going to be Bessie after H grandmother. We also have Autumn on our list? We have always loved Harper but were worried because of the beckhams. I love Agatha and Audrey but thats a no go!

Betsy maybe? Or Betty? Could you have Elizabeth and nn Bess/Bessie?

Darcy-Mae imo is so totally different to the sibling names as to be a very odd choice.

I'd feel a bit diddled if I was Darcy-Mae

Alice
Claudia
Amelia
Annabel
Hermione
Evelyn
Isabel
Isabella

Why not Darcey/ Darcy spelt the normal way. Drop the Mae or have May as the middle name? I really don't like names with hyphens unless they are "proper" established names e.g Sarah-Jane. Harriet goes well with your other names. Its my sister's name and I love it.

Oh I don't like Darcy Mae at all, sorry. And it doesn't go with the names of your other daughters. I think it's a good thing you've changed your mind...

I like Arabella.

Also Elodie, Amelie, Isabella, Ottilie.

I vote Martha, it goes really well with your other dc names and is a million times better than Darcie-Mae!

My Georgina's middle name is Harriet!

I thought that was the normal way to spell Darcie lol!

Youve all put me off the name now hehe.

Keep coming with suggestions. Not keen on Fleur and my friend just had a Betsie.

Darcey on it's own is fine.

Matilda goes really well with your other 2 children's names.

HolgerDanske · 14/08/2014 09:51

You could name her Elizabeth and use Bessie for short...

Norway's princess is called Martha Louise. I've always liked that.

Yes like Matilda as well.

Agree with the others that Darcie-Mae is terrible! I do, however really like Arabella & Matilda.

Your name choices are much more to my taste. In fact i was pleasantly surprised to read them after Darcie-Mae.

Audrey is my favourite girls name ever!

WienerDiva · 14/08/2014 10:03

I think Darcy on it's own with Georgina and Phoebe sounds fine, it's that Mae bit I'm not keen on.
