Sounds like a fish

Sure it's not Corry?

I don't like it with a K at all I'm afraid. Corey is ok.

Wouldn't it be Cory (or Corey)? Like the hero in one of the shorter Jilly Cooper books?

I've never heard of an Irish name Kori. Maybe it's a mangling version of the surname Correy.

Kori isn't Irish, it's a variant spelling of Corey, which (according to BehindTheName) is "from a surname which was derived from the Old Norse given name Kóri, of unknown meaning." Corey/Cory is more often used on boys than girls - it was #117 on the boys chart for England and Wales in 2012.

Cary is Irish though, and I think that's quite handsome on a boy.

Corey is a nice name- makes me think of the main character in boy meets world.

It's not an Irish name- sorry.

Don't like it I'm afraid, he'd be forever correcting the spelling as people would assume it was Corey. Pain in the arse for him as he grows up.

I know of boys called Corey and a girl called Cori but I think it's short for something.

It's definitely not irish. There isn't even a "k" in the irish alphabet

A lot of names that begin with K are Not Good IMHO.

I like Corey. Kori looks nice, I'm just not sure if it's a valid spelling or not. It might be though, I don't know.

Is there really no K in the Irish alphabet lima ? I thought Kayleigh was an Irish name?

Report
squoosh · 15/06/2014 18:50

No k in the Irish alphabet, or j q v w x y z!

Irish names like Kathleen or Kevin are anglicised.

I went to school with a boy Cory, & used to work with a male Kerry.
My problem with Kori is that it's just one letter away from a goldfish (Koi).

Kayleigh is an anglicisation of céilí -- a country dance featuring jigs and reels, etc.

Kori is definitely not Irish. Sounds very 80s American TV to me.
