I love offering name suggestions and I am resigned to no more DC for me so I live vicariously through other peoples name choices.
I do often wonder what happens after a thread finishes.
So.., if you feel able to, without outing yourself, please can you tell me what you were undecided on and what you eventually went with?

I wasn't on MN when I chose mine, but I thought I'd jump into this thread anyway!

I We were set on Vinnie and Ronnie for our twin boys. They were named that for about 2 days until they met the rest of their family. Their faces said it all. So long story short, they've ended up a Zachary and Jacob.

Back in 2010 I wanted thoughts on naming my dd (who was due march 2011) Dillon.
I loved it dh loved it I got mixed reactions though mostly got told it was a boys name Hmm
It really put me off! But as it turned out it didn't suit her anyway and she ended up Isabella Emily...which suits her perfectly Smile

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/a1927121-What-do-you-think-oooooof-girls-name-NICKNAME-WORRIES

This was my thread :) (well, one of several).

I ended up ignoring the majority of advice, and my DD (although I was convinced she was going to be a boy right up until she came out!) is Celyn Teagan. Most people know her as Callie - OH and I are the only ones who regularly address her as Celyn as well as Callie. It's worked out great because I hate Celi/Kelly as a nickname (I'll deal with it if she wants it later in life), and a lot of our friends were uncertain how to pronounce 'Celyn', so they've called her Callie from the start. I think she looks like a little Callie too Grin

Wasn't on mn with 1 and 2.

For 3 I had a very long short list. I can't remember everything that was on it but I think it included Cassidy, Alexis, Matilda, Francesca, Felicity, Alexandra, Eden, Giselle and probably a gazillion others.

I also had a last minute hormonal moment and wanted things like Rainbow Blue and Calypso Raine! Grin

I went with Xanthe Arabella Rhiannyd (all of which were also on the shortlist). She's 10 weeks old now.

I posted a lot as I loved the names Eben and Thomas but thought Eben a bit risky and Thomas a bit dull. Then I came across Louis and Evan.

We went with Louis. I think it's such a cute name which can later be cool, and works in France (I am a francophile). It's not too unusual but not too common, though I've met quite a few so think it's on the up.

For the first few days I kept accidentally calling him Eben, but now he is very much Louis (5 months old). Thanks for your help!

I didn't use mumsnet when choosing dd1's name, but for dd2, I read someone's else thread on the name Eliza - I had discounted it as I thought it had become too popular but the thread brought it back to me and I realised how much I liked it and so that's what dd2 is called Grin.

Now just to choose a name for dc3 - I'm liking Louis!

I had a thread just after Christmas 2013. Shortlist was down to Elijah, Ethan and Seth.

I'd pretty much settled on Elijah but when ds popped out it just felt all wrong and really clunky. In the end, after a nice cup of tea, we actually went with our third choice of Seth and I've totally grown to love it and I can't think why I wasn't 100% for it in the first place !

Oooh marking my place here, i love to know what people have chosen.

I was very new and too scared to post when pg with DD but I went back through old posts and discovered that when others had asked, my choice was generally well received on mumsnet Smile. DD is Jennifer Sidney

Had a shortlist of Zachary, Isaac, vinnie and Dominic. Was pretty much settled on Dominic and majority on here loved it so Dominic he is Smile still working on a middle name though Hmm . Nobody ever tells you how hard it can be choosing someone's forever name (as I keep calling it)

When pg with my ds I came on asking advice on a name and everyone said it was awful we went with it any way and it really suits him. He is called Herbie.

Again when pg with my dd I asked for advice but found even though I said no granny names that's basically what I was given, we decided on Naomi.

I don't recall asking for opinions with DS1 but with DS2 I started a thread on Lachlan or Sullivan for DS2.

DS2 arrived at 6am on St. Patricks day so was immediately a Sullivan. In honesty I don't think DH ever really liked Lachlan despite being Scottish but we've had nothing but compliments on his name.

I'll be honest, I love the name so much that I really don't care what other people think - that's when you know you've got the right name Smile

And going on what a previous poster had written, we had short listed Dylan for a girl had DS1 turned out to be female - love it for a girl, very cute and reminds me of Dylan Lauren who is a very classy lady!

Thank you for coming back and sharing! I always flip to the end of threads hoping to see the OP having a eureka moment and announcing so and so has helped them find the perfect name Smile

Oh what a good idea for a thread. I really wanted to call our little one Rosie but it really doesn't go with our surname- v v similar! After the (I must admit correct) opinions of mumsnetters to the effect that' my desired name for her sounded like a stripper, we settled on Felicity. But when she arrived, she just didn't look like a Felicity so we went with Annabelle nn Belle. Middle name Beatrice. I love her name. Saving Felicity nn Flossie for if we have another girl!

I asked about 4 months ago as we couldnt find 'the one'. I was asking for alternatives to our individual short lists. There were 2 names we did agree on and we went with 1 of these in the end. DD2 is Lydia, 2month old sister to Esmé. I love it more and more each day and glad we went with it. Most on here said to go with it :)

This was my shortlist which I asked for opinions on when I was expecting my son who is now 2:
Ellis
William
Dexter
Flynn

We went with Flynn Xavier even though we got some negative comments and most people seemed to favour William from our list. The reason we went with Flynn is that we have both worked in schools our whole careers and never met another Flynn or Xavier. When I was expecting our daughter our shortlist was Hope, Holly, Scarlett, Amelia or Claudia and we went with Scarlett for the same reason.

My short list for DD consisted of Sophie, Freya, Eleanor, Eloise or Niamh. We chose Sophie Freya in the end.
