Just a bit of a poll really. Please vote for your favourite
*I am not looking for more name suggestions- please only your favourite of these two- if you don't like either, that's fine but please don't slate them.*

We have chosen Penelope for our DD2 due in 2 days. We need to decide on a middle name.

A sister to Ariana.

We have a one syllable last name (totally outs self)

These are VERY different names but will give you a brief reason for why we like them.

First choice: Penelope London

I know it's a little 'out there' and we really don't want to go for the whole 'Brooklyn, India, Paris' type of place name but we just think it's sounds strong and not only that, we are not originally from London but met here, made a life here, and it has significant meaning for us- we realise it might be a little 'too out there' for some and was for us at first but kind of just grew on us.

Second choice- Penelope Aurélia

We have always loved this name both feminine and masculine version (Aurelius/Aurelian)
It means 'golden' and since DD1's first name means 'silver' in Welsh (or 'holy one' Latin) I think silver and gold have a nice connection *grasps at straws*
But we also realise it is quite close to DD1's name in sound hence why we are considering it as a middle name.

Thanks for taking the time to read!

Out of the two, I prefer Penelope Aurelia

Nunyabiz Sun 25-May-14 13:55:51

Aurelia**

Thanks Gemerama. I predict that will be a common consensus but interesting to find out smile

Anybody else? <tumbleweed>

I like London. Not because I like the name London, but I love out here middle names.

Desperate to use Lilac as a middle name if I have another girl, for this exact reason.

StrawberryCheese Sun 25-May-14 14:59:31

I prefer Penelope London, I think it sounds really cool.

Nunyabiz Sun 25-May-14 15:01:08

Oooo thanks Salazar and strawberry. Got little butterflies thinking about it grin

PrincessOfChina Sun 25-May-14 15:04:27

I like London. Only as a middle name, but I'm another who thinks middle names should either honour family or be something you love but wouldn't use as a first name.

CaulkheadUpNorth Sun 25-May-14 15:04:59

I really like them both. London does sound strong, and Aurelia is one of my favourite names. Do either work better with your surname (initial wise)?

ChampagneSorbet Sun 25-May-14 15:06:44

I prefer Penelope Aurelia.

Justnapping Sun 25-May-14 15:08:19

FYI one of the Kardashians has a child called Penelope Scotland. Just wanted to let you know!

Nunyabiz Sun 25-May-14 15:08:29

Yay grin I was expecting a lot more of a negative reaction to London... Really pleased.

They both work really well with last name so don't think that will effect the final choice.

Nunyabiz Sun 25-May-14 15:10:02

I know justnapping hmmconfused it really annoys me about that but was hoping not many people would make that connection. Stupid Kardashians.

At first I
Thought definitely not London but within a few minutes it has grown on me so Penelope London for me grin (although like both).

hugoagogo Sun 25-May-14 15:18:41

Not keen on either; london is not a person's name (ignores the person on cbbc) and the other one has nipple connotations.

Viviennemary Sun 25-May-14 15:26:21

London is awful. I like being predictable. grin But I like Penelope.

Nunyabiz Sun 25-May-14 15:27:28

Bahaha! Areola?

Nunyabiz Sun 25-May-14 15:27:56

Not sure if you got the part about please not slating it?

happybubblebrain Sun 25-May-14 15:31:23

Penelope Grace sounds nice.

Nunyabiz Sun 25-May-14 15:31:42

Please read the OP.

happybubblebrain Sun 25-May-14 15:34:05

Yeah, sorry but I don't like either. Grace sounds nice.

Salazar Sun 25-May-14 15:36:09

Go for London. You know you want to! Bugger anyone else.

Nunyabiz Sun 25-May-14 15:36:52

confused
I'm not looking for more suggestions.
And not liking either isn't helpful.
