Hello all- so I am a childminder, but have looked after children up and down the country for the last 8 years, so you can imagine the amount of names I have heard, but can I decide on one for my own DC1- no!!

I like (but not love);
Teddy
Henry
Harry
William
Oscar
Arthur
Noah

My OH likes;
Wilfred
Albert
Patrick
Alfred
Henry (a little)
Michael (my late fathers name- but I'm not a fan)

We can't seem to agree at all!
My job doesn't seem to help matters as I have been put off a lot of names!
My OH has a really popular name, and he hates it, whereas I have a fairly uncommon name so I don't quite understand the desire to have something so different!

Has anyone got any genius ideas?
Thanks in advance x

Rory
Oliver
Zachary
Bertie
Freddie
Stanley

AMI88 · 04/05/2014 13:23

I do like Theodore and Bertie! And Rory- but OH has just pulled a right face!

Not a fan of Stanley, and can't have Oliver, although I do like that!

Just seen Kit on another thread- that has been bumped to the top of the list! Woohoo a name we both agree on!!

Kit is a lovely name. We considered it seriously but I wanted a fuller name on the birth certificate and I didn't want Christopher.

Few more suggestions:
Toby/Tobias
Archie
Leo
Lucas
Luke
Gabriel
Asa

AMI88 · 04/05/2014 13:41

Love Toby- wouldn't have tobias as it's a character from American TV show, arrested development (very funny!!)

Not a fan of the others, I look after two children with those names already!!

It will be much easier if DC1 turns out to be a girl!!

Bowlersarm · 04/05/2014 13:42

What's your girls name?

CaulkheadUpNorth · 04/05/2014 13:43

I know a Kitson. I don't know how common a name that is. Kit can also be short for Kester

AMI88 · 04/05/2014 13:59

Hey bowlersam- almost certainly April Rose with Lottie coming in at a close second. I did also love Florence, Hattie, and Jean but there were too many family connections, it wa getting a bit political so we begrudgingly dropped those!

Kitson is growing on me as I say it over and over!!

I was going to reel off some brothers once I knew your girls name but I don't know any Aprils!

Go with Kit, it's great.

Nowitscleanugobshite · 04/05/2014 14:26

I know two aprils. One has Ross and Scott as brothers. The other has kurtis. (At a push you might get kit from that?)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/05/2014 17:08

Really, really dislike Kitson, sorry.

Like Kit as nn for Christopher.
Like Wilfred and Michael.
Love Teddy as nn for Edward. Arthur, Oscar, Noah - all nice.

Nowitscleanugobshite · 04/05/2014 17:26

Kitson to me is flowery PVC handbags? I know it's spelled differently but that's what I hear-in my accent anyway? I've only ever taught a girl "Kit"-from Katherine. But have taught two "Topher"s from Christopher!!

Nowitscleanugobshite · 04/05/2014 17:27

Love Arthur. Noah, Wilfred, Oscar, and Alfred from your lists.

AMI88 · 04/05/2014 18:03

Hahaha yes Flowery handbags, could be worse similarities though!!!
Thanks all- you have given us some good names to think about, will let you know what we decide on!

AMI88 · 04/05/2014 21:58

I don't really like. Edgar or Piers- but thanks for suggestion!

Just been told by OH if it is a girl, he is going to tell everyone we named her April after the girl from teenage mutant ninja turtles?! My god men can be so infuriating hahaha

Hahaha No- I am glad you think so!! We don't know if it's boy or girl- boys names have definitely been harder to agree on!

OP posts:
AMI88 · 04/05/2014 22:08

Love Nate, Wilbur, Percy!!

So far Kit Henry F_ is the favourite, closely followed by Arthur Michael F

But this may well change!
It's is a girl we like April Rose (not after teenage mutant ninja turtles) and Lottie Marie.

Thank you for suggestions everyone!

Kit can be short for Christian, as well as Christopher/Kristoff
