Our DDs are called Sophie and Emma and we are expecting DC3 who we know is a boy. I love the names Sebastian or Felix but I'm unsure how well they go with our DDs names. Somehow, to me, they seem imbalanced because the girl's names are very popular but the potential names for DS are more unusual. Does this matter?

What do you think? Do the names sound ok together? It's important for me that they sound right and would like some opinions.

I think Sebastian goes really well with your girls names! I'm not so keen on Felix though.

I don't think of Sebastian or Felix as unusual names. I think they go nicely with your DDs.

I don't think they're unusual. Felix is a fabulous name Wink

I don't think they are too different and both go really well!

I don't think they are unusual names either. I think they both go well.

I have different popularity names.
One is a top ten boys name, and the other isn't even in the top 250!
I couldn't care less, people soon adjust

I think either is fine although Felix fits slightly better as the no of syllables in Sebastian doesn't match your DDs shorter names so well.

I have 2 DCs one with a top 10 name and the other just outside top 100. Both classic/dull (delete as appropriate) names. They both seem happy with their names. One likes being the only x in his 400+ primary school, the other positively relishes being known by the first letter of his surname (strange child)! It's only me that feels a bit bad that the two names' popularity isn't more even.

I think either is fine! I'm with posters above, I have a dd with a top 12 name but hoping to give number #2 something outta the top 100 this time around.
Congrats on your boy :)

Felix is 114 with 558 boys given the name on the popularity list and Sebastian no 41 with 1705 boys named it in 2012 (stats I could easily find)

IMO both would count as popular names to put into context Emma 50th with 1149 called & Sophie 9th with 3496) so in this case Emma is actually less common than Sebastian :).

If you love the names go for it. I would not worry about popularity being a issue.

Doesn't matter a jot. DS has a top twenty name, DDs isn't in the top 100 where we are

Neither Felix nor Sebastian strike me as being unusual. Very much in the same vein as Emma and Sophie.

Sebastian is MUCH nicer than Felix though.

I know lots of Sebastians, it is definitely up there with Sophie and Emma.
