Have DD already called Maddison Ane. I love Mathilda Rose for DD 2 but I fear everyone else in the world may hate it!

Unnecessary H as far as I'm concerned, but otherwise lovely.

Yes, drop the H.

I'd keep the H but expect mispellings. Mathilda is a very different style to Maddison though!

There was an empress Matilda, very strong female ruler in the middle ages, I love it.

I really like the strength of it I think. I suppose I need to have a think about the H though.

We know a Matilda. It's usually Mattie. Which is cute but you're going to have Mattie and Maddie which after a while is going to sound ridiculous. Sorry.

Matilda spelt wrong.

I love it - the 'h' makes it into the French version.

Sorry Ralph but I think you'll find Mathilda is the root. Matilda is spelt wrong.
We were going to shorten it to Tilly not Mattie I think

Oh well that's ok. Grin

I find it quite annoying. I can't explain it. I hear it and feel irritated.

I love it, love it, love. But, ooh, it's getting well common..

My DD is Matilda Rose. Beautiful, we shorten it to Tilly. Apparently (evidently!) it is getting more popular but I don't care!

I love it even if it is becoming more popular. To me it suggests someone with real strength of personality, like the girl in the Roald Dahl book.

BeetlebumShesAGun · 10/04/2014 23:22

That's why we chose it Grin

My niece is Matilda and some (mostly older) people have spelt it the traditional way with an h in cards etc, so I think either spelling will lead to a small number of queries, but that doesn't matter - it's a lovely name so choose whichever spelling you prefer.

I know loads of Matildas. At least one of which is Matilda Rose.

Quite a nice name but don't choose it if you want to be original!
