Hello everyone

I'm expecting baby no.3 in June. We have 2 DDs, Laila and Grace. We have a boy's name picked out, but are struggling with a girl's. My shortlist is:

Annabel - nn. Annie
Aveline
Camille
Elle
Elodie
Eva
Juliet
Julienne
Marielle
Maia
Niamh
Violet
Sarah

The only one DH is set on is Annabel, which I like but is very similar to a family name.

I am leaning towards Sarah as it was my gran's name, but DH isn't so keen. She was actually Sadie, which I also really like.

Anyway - thoughts and opinions much appreciated!

Well Sarah/Sadie for your gran would be lovely.

I personally like
Camille
Marielle
As they contrast nicely with her sisters.

How would you pronounce Aveline as that sems very lovely too.
Naomi is another that would be nice. All your names are beautiful though!

I really like the sound of Juliet and Violet with your other girls.

I have 3 daughters. Camille & Juliet are lovely, actually all your names are lovely, but I really like Camille. My dd3 is called Anna & dd2s middle name is Sadie after my husband's grandmother smile

I really like Elle, Niamh and Annabel. Annie is a lovely nm.

Love Violet and Annabel from your list, Violet goes lovely with your DDs names.

Thank you for the comments. I like all the names, but still agonising over the final one! I like Violet too, but am not that keen on Vi as a nickname. I know a nickname is not a given, but you never know.

Aveline would be pronounced Av-e-leen. Might be a bit confusing, with everyone thinking it's Evalyn?

Camille is on my list so that gets my vote but Elodie & Marielle are lovely too. How about Marlena (Marlaina), Coraline, Juliana, Nerissa, Imogen?

A lot of your names are on my list too so looks like we have similar taste smile I'll share my (not so short) short list .
We've already discounted a few of these due to friends/family using them/don't go with our surname/have become too popular etc

Violet
Imogen
Noella
Evelyn
Lilian
Grace
Ava
Hallie
Mia/Mila
Rosalie
Emmeline
Annalise
Annabelle (love Annie so thinking of a name that can be shortened to Annie)
Hazel
Julianne
Juliette
Faith
Iris

I think Sadie is perfect!

The meaning of Anne is Grace so you could us that to put your OH off smile

I'm not keen on Violet or Elodie and I think Elle is too short a sound, Niamh too actually.

My favourites would probably be Juliet or Marielle but I like Sadie too, Sally is also a derivative of Sarah and would go nicely.

Thanks for all the feedback. Keep the change, yes we do have very similar taste! Thanks for the suggestions, some lovely ones.

Not sure why no.3,is so hard. I do like Annabel Sarah - Sarah Annabel is nice too.

Annabel - nn. Annie - I love Annabel but not keen on Annie
Aveline - this sounds very unusual. I think I like it. Could be Ava?
Camille - I don't like this but I do like Camilla?
Elle - it's ok. I think Ella is nicer.
Elodie - I like this a lot
Eva - really lovely
Juliet - gorgeous
Julienne - sounds a bit masculine to me (like Julian)
Marielle - I don't like this at all
Maia - like it
Niamh - gorgeous
Violet - quite like it
Sarah - it's okay but I really love Sadie

I think Laila and Grace go best with Eva, Maia and Sadie
My favourites are Eva, Juliet, Niamh and Sadie

Annabel Sarah is nice. I don't care for Sarah as a first name, but it's nice to honour your grandma. I really like Sadie though, but Annabel edges it. It's more of a complete name I think. I wouldn't even use a nn, Annabel is just perfect and pretty as it is.

Sadie, without a doubt!

Allalonenow Thu 10-Apr-14 07:27:03

Juliet is my favourite from your list, so pretty for a little girl but also a lovely grown up name, I like your family connection with Sarah too.

Elllimam Thu 10-Apr-14 08:52:21

I like Annabel and Juliet, I would be using Annabel for my baby but my husband isn't keen sad Annabel Juliet is gorgeous xx

I like Camille, but she was French and it suited her. I've never met an English Camille and I think it would be hard to pull off and pronounce for an English girl.

What about Ava?

Boygirl5 Thu 10-Apr-14 23:28:02

Camille is lovely

sleepingbeautiful Fri 11-Apr-14 00:56:07

Sadie, Juliet, Camille.
Julienne just makes me think of vegetable sticks smile
Julianne maybe?

schplappo Fri 11-Apr-14 01:53:57

If Violet is your choice, how about Lettie as a NN?

I love Niamh or Juliet. I agree Annabel Sarah is nice.
