April. Definitely April!

I met a little toddler called April recently and was surprised at how cute I found her name.

Sammy is dreadful.

April Ann, without a doubt. Sammy is just too informal, and Sammy Ann sounds a bit Dr Seuss.

I prefer April, not keen on Sammy I'm afraid.

Sammy Ann sounds like Simian, not something I'd want associated with a little girl.

Just to check people wouldn't find it weird using April as she won't be born in that month :)

I have a month name of a month when I wasn't born - never had an adverse comment.

April Ann, Sammy Ann doesn't sound like a name. Are you sure... Sure that you want to call your child April Ann?

April, Sammy is a boys NN

I want to like April, but I am one of those weirdos who would only use it for a child born in that month.
I like Samantha with sammy as nn.
Not keen on Ann but you may be using it for personal reasons. I really like Anna, but it wouldn't flow with first name choices. I'm basically not being at all helpful, sorry Wink

Prefer April but agree I had assumed she was due in April.

In a departure from other views I think April Ann sounds awkward, the two 'A's don't exactly trip off the tongue.

And Sammy is a diminutive, wouldn't it be better to name the child Samantha but use Sammy.

Friends named their child something like April Ann but even they were uncertain whether they meant people to call her the full version or just April, so try to be clear what you will want people to use. In the end ny friend's child just gets called the first part of her name.

April is lovely. I really don't like Sammy.

I like Samantha and I like April but I don't like Ann attached to either of them.

Sammy Ann isn't that nice at all (sorry) and I wonder whether people will presume that its actually Sally Ann and you'll be forever correcting them.

Hey to clear a few things up:

  1. We're not massive fans of the name ann itself, but its non negotiable as a middle name as its after a close family friend who died unexpectedly last year.

  2. It would be used as a middle name, not hypenated, so only april/sammy would be used day to day.

  3. im now really, really keen on april as opposed to sammy.

thanks for the help so far :)

April is much nicer. Prefer Samantha over Sammy. Ann is fine as a middle name, but I think it would work better I you slip a second middle name, ideally 3 or 4 syllables, in to break it up a bit more and help it flow better. A few suggestions...

April Samantha Ann (so you could incorporate Sammy that way?)
April Elizabeth Ann
April Charlotte Ann
April Catherine Ann
April Camilla Ann
April Victoria Ann
April Lydia Ann
April Suzannah Ann
April Rebecca Ann
April Emilia Ann

I much prefer April to Sammy. Agree with previous poster that Ann would work better with a second middle name before it if teamed with April.

I don't think it matters that she won't be born in. I know several women called June who weren't born in that month.

And I much prefer April to Sammy.
