My top 6 for both genders are:

Boys:
Aldous
Conrad
Clement
Humphrey
Stellan
Warwick

Girls:
Claudia
Coral (perfect for a middle name I think)
Hillary
Mirabel
Morgan
Vivienne

Already have a DD, Allegra Lilac.

Is there anything else you think I might like? I have 30+ lists, so suggestions are going to need to be really obscure.

How would you describe the tone/style of names that I like?

They are quite diverse! Nothing too unusual to suggest here but how about

Roman
Wolfgang
Dunstan

For boys, and

Primrose
Clementine
Arielle
Cassidy
Miriam

For girls?

I love Allegra. From your list I like Aldous and Stellan, and Mirabel.

I have an irrational hatred of Roman and any name that includes Rose, so those two are out.

Nothing directly grabbing me, but I do love Wolf. Wolfric is very up my street.

Also Ariel (prefer a less fussy spelling) would make a lovely middle name for DD.

Edgar
Magnus
Cormac
Gilbert

Greta
Zelda
Mabel
Beatrix

Love the boys names suggested, such a shame that one is the name of my ex! The other three have been added to my list.

Big fan of Mabel. Zelda is too video-gamey, and just not keen on the other two, but you've definitely pin-pointed my 'style', especially for boys.

Going off to google ex's name for similar suggestions!

Classic? Not quite operatic but not on radio 1? Verging on papal? .

Benedict
Gideon
Magnus
Torquil

Emerald
Greer
Topaz
Vere

Am gleeful because I rarely get to suggest these Smile

Yes Donkey! Completely summed me up!

I am in love with these. Gideon and Torquil are magnificent.

And I'm seriously loving the jewel names, for middle names.

Omg Opal! How have I never thought of Opal before?

Gideon, Hilary and Opal are my top names (I prefer the Hilary spelling)

Your girls name list is very different to your boys. Apart from Hillary and Mirabel, the rest are pretty standard middle class on the way up names which was surprising. Opal is more on the same lines as the boys.

How about Jewel itself? Sapphire or Sapphira, more unusual flowers like Dahlia or Delphine. Darrell for a girl or Celie, Zena, Shoshana or Aster, Rumer is maybe along the same lines.

For boys maybe Bede, Wilbur, Ari, Akira, Solomon, Naaman or Abraham (Abe)

Delphine is gorgeous.

Ariel is originally a boys name ( the tempest) so not automatically a dd name?

MerylStrop · 06/02/2014 23:15

Girls
Merle
Hedda
Iseult/Isolde
Ngaire (pronounced Ni-ree….wanted this for DD, vetoed)

Boys
Robin
Florian
Gregor
Gustave
Lorcan

The mermaid has put Ariel very firmly in the girls camp, sorry Britishseamonkey.

Which is funny because I like Paris for a boy. Like a lot of Shakespeare names actually.

Really feeling Isolde and Linus.

Conscious choice to spell Hillary with two LL's. Mrs Clinton has a lot to answer for.

Great names! Also love Allegra.

We have a Quentin which you may like?

Some fab names, but from your original list to me there are some which are glaringly in a different style. I've put them in bold.

Boys:
Aldous
Conrad
Clement
Humphrey
Stellan
Warwick

Girls:
Claudia
Coral (perfect for a middle name I think)
Hillary
Mirabel
Morgan
Vivienne

I'd say your style (apart from the starred ones) is 30s cocktail party. Love it.

Also really really love Stellan.

Very happy to see the suggestion of Greer, love that name.

How about:
Basil
Clementine
Astrid
Pierce
Willoughby
