I'm still ttc dc3 so plenty of time yet but can't help think of names. What do you think of Quinn? For either girl or boy?

TwatWeevil Sun 12-Jan-14 19:23:17

I really like it, for either girl or boy, but then I used to know a lovely American (man) with the name so have positive connotations!

Cool name. Suits either sex & not a common place name.

Dislike it for a boy but detest it for a girl. Sorry.

southerngirl25599 Sun 12-Jan-14 19:54:46

I love it, for both sex and it's not to common.

CajaDeLaMemoria Sun 12-Jan-14 19:58:02

It reminds me of Mad Dogs.

So it's a man's name, to me, and I don't like it because the character wound me up a bit.

BEEwitched Sun 12-Jan-14 20:13:12

I like it for both genders but prefer it for a girl.

hawkmcqueen Sun 12-Jan-14 20:23:48

I just think of it as a surname and haven't met one in RL. It could quite possibly be cool?

natandmat Sun 12-Jan-14 20:26:40

I have a girl Quinn! Love it!

KareKare Sun 12-Jan-14 20:29:19

I'd be worried the child would be teased and called Quim.

I went to school with a girl whose surname was Quinn and she was called that. Not nice.

Weeantwee Sun 12-Jan-14 20:39:13

I quite like it as a boys name, not sure about a girl though.

Squeakybeaky Sun 12-Jan-14 21:13:47

I am 32 and have never heard of quim. Have just had to google it!

AuntieStella Sun 12-Jan-14 21:18:15

It's too close to Quim (especially if you have uneven handwriting) for me to like it. Though it might work on a boy.

gruffalosfriend Sun 12-Jan-14 23:00:28

I only know boys named Quinn, sometimes short for Quentin. I like it.

But I don't find it feminine at all, so definitely a boys name for me.

Maeve789 Sun 12-Jan-14 23:02:24

No, way too banal.

What about Super Quinn grin

TheAfterDark Sun 12-Jan-14 23:12:13

Love it... Definitely a girls name for me... (Glee fan)

My 10 year old GIRL is Quinn and completely suits her.

Have met lots of people with Quinn as a surname, doesn't work for me as a first name.

peppinagiro Sun 19-Jan-14 10:33:39

Quim. For sure. She'd have had an awful time at our school (or he, for that matter. Quims are gender neutral!). Don't do it.

Even without the quimness, it's just a bit American sounding for me.

jazzyjenbo Sun 19-Jan-14 13:11:19

There was/is a girl in glee called Quinn and I know a 3 yr old girl with this name. Like it x

sleepingbeautiful Sun 19-Jan-14 19:43:27

I know a male one and a female one. Quite like it as a boy's name, really dislike as a girl's name.

LePetitPont Mon 20-Jan-14 18:52:28

There was a Quinn in One Tree Hill too - definitely a girl's name.

gruffalosfriend Mon 20-Jan-14 18:58:18

Sounds so masculine, like Finn.

Don't like it for a girl at all.

There is a character on the American TV series Dexter (about a pathologist-by-day-serial-killer-by-night) named Quinn.

He's a bit of all right :D
