Our dd2 is due in less than 2 weeks. We have decided on Matilda but now I'm awake reconsidering our very first choice(before we knew it was a girl) of Georgia, we discarded this for Daisy then unanimously settled on Matilda. Now I'm wondering did we make a mistake. If you had to choose between Georgia & Matilda, which would you choose & why? Xxx

I find both names twee.

Have you considered Georgina?

shazbean Sun 05-Jan-14 20:20:12

No, in Scotland.

JanetAndRoy Sun 05-Jan-14 19:38:37

I like Matilda most, and prefer Georgina to Georgia.

Rtfairy Sun 05-Jan-14 19:36:27

Definitely Matilda! x

ToffeeOwnsTheSausage Sun 05-Jan-14 19:25:47

Matilda with an H looks awful.

ToffeeOwnsTheSausage Sun 05-Jan-14 19:23:22

Matilda definitely.

Georgia is boring imho.

Georgia gets my vote as I think it's great for babies, children and adults. In terms of current popularity, Matilda was a few places higher than Georgia in the last ONS results. Are those commenting on Georgia's popularity talking about for all under 18s or for babies born in the last few years?

Oubliette0292 Sun 05-Jan-14 18:43:41

I prefer Matilda.

Matilda is far, far nicer than Georgia. I suspect there will be a lot of Georgia and Georginas this year after Prince George.

Wishfulmakeupping Sun 05-Jan-14 18:37:35

shazbean and alis can I be nosey please and ask if you both live down south I know it is popular there? Thanks

Alisvolatpropiis Sun 05-Jan-14 18:34:33

Matilda.

Georgia is wildly popular in my immediate local area and has been since the mid 1990's. There are so many!

Prefer Georgia not keen on Matilda don't like the hard d

shazbean Sun 05-Jan-14 18:28:28

Like both but prefer Mathilda - Georgia is very popular round our way at the moment.

DramaAlpaca Sun 05-Jan-14 18:27:16

Matilda

The Georgia I know (mid twenties) goes by Geo

IAmTheOneWhoKnocks Sun 05-Jan-14 18:24:39

I prefer Georgia but I do like Matilda.

I reckon you should wait till she's born and see what suits her best.

I like Daisy better then Georgia (which personally, I dislike - sorry) or Matilda (but would go for that over Georgia).

BEEwitched Sun 05-Jan-14 15:45:01

I like Georgia but prefer Georgina, it's on my name list.

I like Matilda as well, though!

HomeHypno Sun 05-Jan-14 14:22:05

Matilda is my favourite. I also like Tilly as nn. All female Georgias I know are known as 'George' which is funny in a kind of ironic way but not really. Georgina is not bad though.

looki Sun 05-Jan-14 13:39:34

Both are nice though my preference is definitely Matilda. It' sounds classier to me. I don't like the hard second g in the name Georgia and it reminds me of the coffee machine Gaggia?

AGoodPirate Sun 05-Jan-14 12:39:49

I can't decide. DD says Matilda.

Wishfulmakeupping Sun 05-Jan-14 12:15:03

Whereabouts are you sarah just checking its not near me I take it they are 'older' Georgia's

Viviennemary Sun 05-Jan-14 12:12:22

Personally I'm not keen on it. But in the end it's up to you. You're hardly going to find a name that everyone likes.
