We decided on a name for DD which is Sophia Grace, however family etc Are putting me off it a bit by saying she will sound pretentious and why not Sophie Etc etc.

Normally I am not swayed by their opinions but I am starting to doubt whether it's such a brilliant name after all!! Helpppp. All views are most welcome- please both positive and negTive. Other dd is Isabella rose

Sophia grace is pretty and strong. IMO it goes perfectly with your other DD's name.

I think it's lovely and the 'a' at the end matches with your other daughter's name. Go with the name you want - they will get used it it and frankly it is none of their business.

Lovely name. I do prefer Sophia to Sophie as I think it's less popular.

I only know one Sophia in her thirties but everyone calls her Sophie so that's not overly helpful.

It is a brilliant name. I love it.

Sophia is a beautiful name, and goes really nicely with Grace. It'll get shortened to Soph anyway I expect.

Lovely, not pretentious in the slightest, ignore them.

It's lovely, goes with your other DD's name, and as a bonus I think is my friend's DD's name (she is 11 so I must confess I'm not 100% sure of the middle name - her christening was a long time ago!)

If SHE thinks it's pretentious when she's older she can always choose to go by Sophie. Or Grace. Or Bob for that matter.

Ignore them. It's a beautiful name.

Sophia is nice (said Sophie - a or Soph-ay-ah?)

But as with the poster above, dd1s mate is known as Sophie or sof! ( only knew she was Sophia at GCSE prize giving lol)

Nothing wrong with Sophie but I personally prefer Sophia and think it "goes" better with Isabella. FWIW, I certainly don't think Sophia sounds pretentious.

I know LOTS of Sophie's but no Sophia's. I think Sophia is a beautiful name.

It's a lovely name, goes well with your other DD and is uncommon without being yooneeq.

No, no, no! Picking out a name is one of the great simple pleasures of becoming a parent. Don't let them ruin it. Tell them your telling them the name not asking for opinions. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks of it but you and your OH.

It sounds like your child hasn't arrived yet - perhaps stop discussing it with them and advise they will be told when its final.

Erm...how is Sophia pretentious? Confused

Ignore your family, Sophia Grace is lovely.

Prefer Sophia to Sophie.

Aw, my friend's name is Sophia Grace and I've always thought what a lovely name it is!

The obnoxious Sophia Grace child from Essex who interview celebrities has seriously put me off this combination, but they are pretty names individually.

I agree with everything Rosencrantz's post said.

Beautiful! I have a Grace so obviously love that! Sophia is a lovely name. I only know one (she would be 11). Sophie is nice too but I know loads.

I have never heard of Sophia Grace from Essex!

Have a google for Sophia Grace Brownlee and you'll understand why I'm put off.

Not famous here really, but huge in the states as she is a regular on the Ellen Show and corresponds at major events like the Oscars.
