I don't think the slang for arse is in widespread use, but it is definitely known IYSWIM, so I wouldn't use this name if I were in SE England.

Thing is, if you like it then go for it. No one on here likes my DS's name apart from one or two

Amy106 Sat 23-Nov-13 19:06:14

I like it.

greeneyes1978 Sat 23-Nov-13 18:57:13

Harrison is nicer

Chivetalking Sat 23-Nov-13 17:10:06

Slang for arse so nay.

TheNunsOfGavarone Sat 23-Nov-13 16:47:59

Tweed.

Beachballfamily Sat 23-Nov-13 14:59:48

I like it. It's a quite popular Muslim name (spelt with one r) as well as the Scottish connection.

MamaLazarou Sat 23-Nov-13 14:23:25

Rhyming slang for bum.

Theonlyoneiknow Sat 23-Nov-13 10:09:39

I love it however it is now racing up the charts in popularity in Scotland. I know 3 !

squoosh Fri 22-Nov-13 10:38:33

Not for me.

Island names are popular at the moment but I'm not a fan of this one.

schilke Fri 22-Nov-13 10:36:23

Hmm not keen.

Thanks for opinions I love it but dh isn't convinced, We are Scottish forgot to put that, didn't even connect it with Rolf Harris that is off putting.

Frontdoorstep Fri 22-Nov-13 10:00:01

I'm Scottish and agree that there are nicer Scottish names. I'm afraid I reall don't like Harris for a name.

Weegiemum Fri 22-Nov-13 09:59:14

I agree that it's fine, but that there are nicer Scottish names, including place-type names, than Harris.

If you use it though you could take him to visit the Isle of Harris which is gorgeous - I know because I lived there for 10 years!!

MonkeysInTheFog Fri 22-Nov-13 09:55:44

Not since Rolf ruined it.

girliefriend Fri 22-Nov-13 09:40:48

I like it, prefer Harry though.

Bowlersarm Fri 22-Nov-13 09:39:24

Nay.

LemonBreeland Fri 22-Nov-13 09:37:27

I like it I know two boys called Harris.

UriGeller Fri 22-Nov-13 09:04:53

Nay. Nay. And thrice nay.

HyvaPaiva Fri 22-Nov-13 09:03:45

It's a surname, it's a product (tweed), it sounds like London slang for arse, it's not a pleasant 'sound' as a name. I'm Scottish and like cloggal think there are plenty of beautiful Scottish names. To me, this really, really isn't one of them.

chimchar Fri 22-Nov-13 09:00:36

my first response was Rolf.

not keen, sorry.

cloggal Fri 22-Nov-13 08:58:54

I'm Scottish but I genuinely think there are far nicer Scottish names if that's what you're after. Not bad, but not great.

MorgauseIsNotBlinking Fri 22-Nov-13 06:44:00

Nay - my immediate response was "Tweed".

LifeIsBetterInFlipFlops Fri 22-Nov-13 06:41:59

Nay
