Why do you want a delicate name for a girl? Girls need to be tough and strong and not called Tinkerbel......

Girls need to be tough and strong

No they don't. Girls don't have to be anything., any more than boys do. Regardless, her name will not make her tough, strong or delicate.

Jacinth
I am not sure if this is a real name, or a combo of Hyacinth and Jacinta, but I went to school with one. She was vair posh.

I agree about being wary of descriptive names. I know a large and clumsy Grace, who chose to use her middle name when she about 8, and she is (be her own admission) the least graceful person in the world!

Elodie

curlew, I don't think the op is deciding a personality for her child, merely has a preference for a certain type of name. I like elegant, classical, feminine but unusual girls name purely because they happen to be what I like. DD has such a name. She is a rugby playing, superhero adoring, tree climbing tomboy. Because that's who she is. Her name is nothing to do with that. I also like slightly poncy, effeminate, lefty boys' names. So far DS isn't any of those things. I just like the sound of certain types of names.

Soupy's right too. Girls don't need to be anything other than who they are and comfortable with it.

I wouldn't worry about using a Welsh name, my name is Welsh and people always tell me how pretty it is.
